An update..

Talked to my service guy and they offered to refinish both wheels.

I replied back that I'm not ok with that, that I've seen numerous refinishes flake or fade and I don't want to incur that risk. I asked for new wheels, and that the dealer takes my 'refinished' wheels and sell or reuse on their dime.

This is fair. They will likely put these on a used car and (assuming the refinish is done well) the new user will never know and will be happy with them. Some people might take refinished wheels, I feel that is a somewhat fair offer from the service center, but you have the right to ask for a replacement IMHO if you feel that way.

Edit: Sorry, didn't read to the end. The service center should have know better than to give you sub-par wheels back when the whole reason they were refinishing them is because they gouged them. That service center appears to not care at all about their customers, I would get the new wheels and go somewhere else.

I like the idea of having a daily driver that is in show room condition, but it's an exercise in futility.

i agree with this, in a daily driver, your car is never going to be perfect, i don't care how much polish you do or where you park, flaws are going to occur and some scuffs from a tire guy are no different. Besides your probably the only person that would ever notice such scuffs and just be glad someone hasn't done a bump in run on your car in a parking lot somewhere, cause that will make some rim scuffs seem like nothing.

Glad to hear it worked out for you.

I had a similar problem happen with my car. Before leaving the dealership, I noticed tool marks on my wheel. I make sure to pay particular attention to my wheels since they cost an arm and a leg to replace:

The service guy tried to deny it, implied I was a liar, etc. This pissed me off and then I insisted they make it right. All those a-holes did was try to buff it out until it was just less visible. I totally empathize with your pain. At the same time, a few months later I lent my car to a relative and he curb rashed one of the wheels. After that, I learned not to care as much.

I don't think you are overreacting. I'd be pissed too. You have a nice car and I understand wanting to keep it nice. Yes, things may happen over time to your car, but I'm not going to excuse a person if they key my car. People that say they wouldn't care, most likely have a shitty car. And no, just because you have a new car doesn't mean it is not shitty.

Just because you deem a car shitty, does not mean it's shitty.

I'd take it back and talk to the manager. Screwdriver is clearly not the correct tool. What else are those service folks being paid 100+$ per hour using the wrong tools for?

Edit, good update! Glad they made things right.

Maybe I am over reacting, but the car is otherwise 100% mint. To me it's a bit disrespectful when I'm paying so much for tires and install. If it were my truck at some roadside tire shop then maybe, but not when they want $120/hr for any work done

It's not really my DD, I drive it about half the time

 Nice car.

Don't know what to tell you about the wheel weights. I had new tires mounted on my old bike about a month ago and they left all the sticky gooey shit from the old weights on my rims...still haven't gotten it all off.

I'd probably find a new place to take your car for tires next time. There's no excuse for damaging the finish on nice wheels like that IMO. I'd be fucking pissed if that happened to the wheels on my Ducati.
