You're not overreacting. That's bullshit.

I took mine off with a screwdriver, but I was careful to make sure I was only separating the adhesive with a twisting motion, not prying and scraping or digging into the wheel. Paint stripper took off the adhesive like there was never anything there.

My wheels are hard chrome though. If they were painted, I would have added tape to the screwdriver.

sorry, didn't read this thread, just saw the pictures. allow me to catch my breath from laughing my ass off.

no, a screwdriver is not the right tool for removing sticking weights from the inside of a wheel. but it's not an unacceptable one. most places i work keep a sturdy putty knife by the tire machine. it can leave similar marks. there's also typically leftover adhesive. plus the standard mix of brake dust, grease, pitting, and corrosion present on the back of most people's wheels.

translation- who gives a fuck. if someone sent a car back to be for a complaint of 'someone scatched the inside of my wheels while prying sticky weights off, my solution would be to rub dirt and grease into the scratches so they were no longer visible. then i'd probably walk next door to the grocery store to retrieve some frozen seafood to hide beneath your spare tire.

So you are dishonest and vindictive? Please tell me where you work so I never cross your path.

Location, location, location. If someone scratched the paint on my hood, I'd be hugely pissed. Gouged the lip of my wheels? Yes. The inside of my wheels behind the spokes? Not really. What next? You going to blow up because someone keyed your muffler? Being mad about a scratch in that location of your wheels is seriously OCD.

As others have mentioned, within a few days that area will be covered by dirt anyway. You can tell by the different color of the wheel where the weights were that either the original poster isn't cleaning that area anyway, or there is permanent discoloration. I can't even clean that area of my wheel without taking it off since my hand won't fit between the spokes, I sure as hell am not spending my time looking at that area nor is anyone else who sees my car.

I don't care where it is, people should be careful with other people's stuff.
If you don't care about yours, fine. Obviously the OP does, and I would too.

And by the way, yes I am a bit OCD ;)

Fuck you.

Quoted OP just because:
So, I just washed my car for the first time since I had rear tires put on and noticed the dealership damaged my wheels removing the old weights. Rust looking stuff etc is just dirt, the wheels are otherwise 100% perfect.

This'll be fun to deal with.. The gouges aren't down to the wheel material, I'm guessing this is a touchup/refinish? I'll be tracking down the exact person that did this and having a discussion with them and the service manager.

I hope your house burns down and all your family get repeatedly sodomized and mutilated and then thrown into the trash can outside your new residence.

And then I hope you die from very slow cancer.

Way too far over the line

You're gone for a week

Don't really need to wish that on someone. He has to live with himself and that is far worse.

Then this

Lol, screwdriver.

You can get what appears to be the proper tool on ebay for peanuts: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ADHESIVE-WHEEL-WEIGHT-REMOVAL-TOOL-ALLOY-RIMS-/220740864840

And finish off with this

Bavauto sells a touchup pen for BMW wheels... or you can try Quixx scratch remover to make it less noticeable.

LOL wow, overreact much? Shit people, it's the INSIDE of the wheel. How is OP going to react to his first stone chip, by going on a rampage?

And IMO totally justified.

You and howard should both be banned for your responses. Really? You wish death and pain on someone for joking about hiding seafood in a car.

Y'all need to take a step back and take a breath. Its just a car, it has no feelings, its a minor scratch behind the spoke of a wheel. Talk to the dealership, express your anger, but seriously, making statements about wishing death and harm to one's family is not in the spirit of this forum or any forum and goes against basic human decency.

Oh I'm joking too.

EDIT: If you like, I could settle for immediate death for such shameless, intentional, unwarranted malice where apology and service is called for.

It's of my opinion that the type of adult who maliciously hides seafood in a person's car should be subject to a horrible and torturous death - what's the problem with this? Hiding seafood in a persons car goes against the spirit of basic human decency.

LOL at driving a black car and being anal about the wheels...

That car probably has more hairline scratches than that wheel... pictures do no justice for black cars unless they are up close...

BTW, i was looking only at the first picture, and for some reason was thinking stupidly about the wheel weights... still... anal... do you get pissed when a bird poops on your car? because that probably does as much damage unless you wipe it up immediately...

Why not just get some silver paint and cover that area, its NOT noticeable...

black cars > you.

i'd be pissed. its clearly visible even when glancing at it. OP what are you going to do?

I would probably just off myself if I cared about stuff like this.

I like the idea of having a daily driver that is in show room condition, but it's an exercise in futility.
I try to give my DD as much TLC as possible. just spent the last week detailing it for the summer. It's a great feeling to have a clean care inside and out, and with wax coats applied properly to my car.

Scratching that part of someone's car does not indicate the dealership doesn't care about the original poster's car. It may demonstrate a lack of good judgment in deciding how to take the weights off. You're free to care as much as you want about your stuff. The fact that other people aren't over the top anal about something like that doesn't mean they don't care about their own stuff.

It's a favorite past time of my coworkers to joke about how clean my car is all the time. Ask any of them and they would say I am obsessive about my car. But even I don't ever waste my time cleaning the inside of my wheels nor do I care about rock marks or any other cosmetic damage that occurs on that part of the wheel. I have never heard anyone ever comment on how clean or scuffed up the inside of someone wheels are. Unless you're driving a Ferrari of the like, any rational person would not get all bent out of shape about some minor scratches on the inside of their wheel that can easily be touched up.

I would complain, ask for either a new set of wheels or them to have them buffed to your satisfaction.
