Dealership oil change problems: they forgot to put the cap back on.

My mom too ker Honda Accord to get an oil change at the Honda dealership she bought her (95?) Accord from. She has had ALL service including every oil change done there.

This past Thursday they forgot to put the oil cap back on and noticed today when there was oil coming out of her grill.

I'm going to call them on Monday. What Should I ask for? My mom wants to know if there has been any damage to the car (she has driven maybe 40 miles since Thursday). I doubt that any damage would be easy to prove unless the car died. She wants some sort of guarantee, but I doubt that is going to happen.

Whats the point of going to the dealership if they do an even crappier job than Jiffy lube?

so far my list of demands are:
1. drain and fill with new oil.
2. Wash out oil from under the hood.

I agree, an oil change and free THOROUGH cleaning are in order.

No damage should have resulted, unless the car ran out of oil.. Which is entirely possible, but I think it would take more than 40 miles.

The car wasn't at Jiffy...
Wow.

*rubs eyes*

It was at the dealership. OK, that's even worse.

i drove my civic for 400 km with no oil cap by accident. it lost a lot of oil, and the engine compartment was a mess, but no damage was done.

yea, the stealerships are supposed to at least be able to it right, just for 5x the cost... (unless repairs are involved)

definatley go in there and try to lay down the law.

Gah! It even says "dealership" in the title.

Sorry.. All I saw was "oil change" followed by something bad, and I just assumed it was jiffy lube.. :p:eek:

I say they will deny it or if they admit their mistake, they probably won't pay you. If they pay you once, what stop you from asking them for more money in the future when the car dies.

It was actually cheaper for me to do it a dealership, just not as convenient since I had to schedule an appointment.

Dealership oil change: $18
Jiffy lube: Almost $30
