I recently purchased an 06' Nissan 350z. I was noticing some wind noise on the driver side door. I brought it in on Thursday for maintainence as I am under warranty.

I get my car back and today as I am inspecting my car I notice these two HUGE scratches on the rear passenger rim. One is at least 10 inches long and the other is about 4-5 inches.

First thing I do is call the dealership to tell them my situation. The guy tells me that he can'd do anything and has the have the manager call me back on Monday!

So right now I'm super pissed. I'm also curious to see if any other forum members have run into similar situations and what happend to you.

Best case scenairo is that they replace my rim which I highly doubt as I figure that they will only polish them. The scratches might be too deep for that though.

Any suggestions/advice/stories?

I'm gonna park your car in the garage while you get those rims taken care of. -Anandtech Moderator DrPizza

That sucks. Just be aggressive without losing your temper, take pictures and call Nissan Corporate if you have to. I am sure something could be done. Usually dealers will mark down any damage to your car and give you a copy before you leave your car. Did they give you one?

When I scratched my Civic (less than 2 hours after buying it) on the side, I went back to the dealer the next day and asked them if they could do anything. They took the car for a few hours, and buffed the scratch right out for free. It was a pretty big gash too.

I know its not the same as curbing a rim, but maybe they will work something out with you. Good luck.

Gonna be very, very hard to prove if you have to. Unless you took photos when you dropped it off they'll probably say that the scrapes were already there and that you just hadn't noticed them. Good luck though. Just be persistent.

yeah there's no proof so unless you're one of their biggest customers im afraid you'll have a hard time to get them to fix it...

Don't be so sure they won't help you. That really depends on the dealership.

I know the dealership I used to work for, we used to fix stuff all the time that I knew damn well we didn't cause. But that was the way we operated...other places told customers to get lost for stuff they KNEW they caused.

True, when you get new wheels, just tell them to toss the impact wrench on the hood of your car... then you'll have the perfect opportunity to get it repainted the exact color you want.

I'd say you have a ton more work needed on that car prior to messing with aluminum hoods.

QFT, the smallest imperfection in my car gives me fits, especially if I wasn't the cause of it.

Some people could car less how their cars looks but some of us love our cars, especially when they are new or relatively new.
