Just got an '05 Chevy & the dealer sticker is a thin clear film type that is very well attached, any tips?

no possibility of taking it back and getting them to pull it off?

This should be easy to remove.

First heat the decal with a hair dryer or heat gun (on low) and peel back one corner of the decal. As the decal starts to release pull gently on the corner until it totally releases. Clean up any residue with Goo-Gone. Works like a charm.

I did this on both my Nissan truck and my wife's Civic.

I'd rather not.

I thought about doing that but wasn't sure if it might make it worse, guess I'll give it a try, thanks.

I hate those stickers. I always request that they are removed before I leave the dealership.

2 ways to do it that are fairly easy:

1. Use a hair dryer, heat the decal, peel it up with your finger and pull it off.

2. Get some automotive adhesive remover, I recommend 3M, and soak the decal...then peel it off.

Personally, I'd just try to peel them off first, then go with the hair dryer.

That happened with our fj cruiser...I found out that peanut butter gets off that kind of stuff very quickly. It might sound crazy but work amazingly well

Any chance this could be done on a 98 without leaving any marks (with the sticker put on at the time of sale in 98)?

You can probably do it without scratching it, but there will probably permanently be some marks in the paint....if nothing else, the paint underneath the sticker won't have faded like the paint exposed to the sun.

How in the world did someone ever figure that out? I mean, who would have thought to put peanut butter on a decal?

Not sure if I'll ever get around to trying that, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Peanut Butter also works wonders on removing white wax stains off the black mouldings & rub strips.

I'd use Goo-Gone, one you remove the sticker and residue. Don't foget to throw a layer of wax on the spot.

I don't know for sure how much of a roll it played but I used the peanut butter & it peeled right off. Here's a  for the peanutbutter man.
