Well, I used to suggest IBM, but now I usually go with WD. They have always been good to me. Maxtor is alright, but I have had some fail. I would like to get my hands on some of the new Seagate drives though!

Ummm ok, why only 4 posts. Also what type of systems does he build? If a customer specifcally request a Quantum or WD as you say and he tells them to go somewhere else, he wouldn't be in business long.
Also What type of HDD does he suggest. WD is about as good as any as far as IDE goes.......(especially for a home system)
now if he's talking any variety of SCSI thats a different story, course most here are homeusers and cant affor a big SCSI drive
I know I cant
Great deal? YES... Deal of the year? Are you smoking crack? What is this a $50 dollar savings vs where you can buy it elsewhere? The deal of the year will save you hundreds... **shakes head** Not to mention you will be able to buy this for under $100 bucks by the end of the year.. Holla.

Wanna make a wager? What if this drive does not go for under 100 bucks by the end of this year without rebates??
You're the one smoking crack. If you don't like it, take your crap to someone else's thread. Read the thread title properly, it says " WAS DEAL OF THE YEAR " Never hear of past test? Wake up and stop smoking whatever you're smoking.
yeah sorry dude... deal of the year? its april. you are a loser, you shouldnt have even started this thread - the other one was fine. good deal, i got 2 at 140... but not doty.

IT WAS. Can't you READ?! Damn it.
for 125 shipped, That's like 100 dollars off most other places. Tell me if this is not hot.
I order several from them, and I expected it will be a Dell OEM drive made by WD, they don't carry manufacture warranty for 3 years, instead, it will be 1 year warranty from Dell, not WD. But for $151 shipped, why not.
I think we should stop arguing whether or not this is the deal of the year! Does it really make a difference? If you want one, go buy it. If not, then go search for a hotter deal to earn the bragging rights of DOTY. It really makes no sense to have 2 threads arguing about the same thing in the HotDeals forum. Lets keep this thread about thanking pillage for letting us know about the deal and other informative issues like whats the exact model of this drive that people are getting, if/when they receive the drive after ordering, and problem with this particular drive (not problems with WD in general).
ah, this is still a nice deal. Thanks.
But, am I doing something incorrectly, or is ebates not working today? I never actually used it before, though I have an account. Can't get in from the office or from home -- I get a "cannot display page" IE error when I try to log in or create an account....

Oh well. WD aren't that great anyway and this deal was only $100 below retail and you really should use SCSI because you need more RPMs and this wasn't even the DOTY 'cause I just blew my brains out with some Z560's
