Just got back from Sam's Club B&M, where I picked up a Western Digital 60 gig 5400 rpm drive for $112.91 plus tax. Box on display is marked $159.98, but it rung up at $112.91.

Model: WD600ABRTL (Ata/100, 2MB buffer, 9.5ms seek, 3-year warranty)

6 in stock in the Sam's at my location.

<edit>SKU 282410, check instructions below to see if your Sam's Club B&M has it!

06/08/2001 UPDATE Now it's $84.91!

06/12/2001 update We cleaned 'em out, looks like Sam's Club is finally out of the WD 60GB drives. Good while it lasted!

yes, location.

Two of these drives in a RAID 0 configuration could really smoke!

Miami, FL. I see this was posted in Fatwallet also, and they recommended "Click 'n' Pull," which is not an online porn site as the name may imply, but rather a way to check price and availability of products in the Sam's Club B&M in your area.

Go to SamsClub.com, then click on the "Click 'n' Pull" tab. Enter as a guest if you do not have a login.

Select your state and location, then navigate to "office electronics" then "computer accessories." Scroll through items until you get to the Western Digital hard drives.

I checked the Miami, FL Sam's club, and it shows as $112.91. An Austin, TX store shows $149.98. Albany, NY shows $112.91.

Good luck,
Plex

Hmm...PM with Staples via CS rep, use $25 off $100 coupon and this deal gets even hotter...

Does anybody know if Staples carries this drive? Someone mentioned a pricematch then adding a coupon, but the only Western Digital drives I've been able to find at Staples was a 10 and a 20 GB.

I was checking this deal out at my local Sams and they also have the 30gig 7200 WD HDDs on sale for $67.91. Not a bad deal, with no rebates to hassle with. ATA100 sku# 827705.

These are very noisy for use as a TiVo drive. You might use a Maxtor for the A drive where the swapfile is kept to cut down on the noise.

ICatastrophyI et al

Where are your stores and can you scan the receipt or something? I just drove up to my lcoal Sam's and they had the 30GB at 119.99 and 40GB 129.99. they did have the 60 GB at 112 though. Maybe some of the stores are using different pricing. Anyone else seeing the 30GB at a more reduced price?

the .91 at the ends of the prices sounds like clearance to me
then that means maybe a scheduled markdown is in effect -- i mean eventually those prices will apply in your are also
good luck

I stopped in at my local SAMS and they had it listed for the $149.98 (display and computer listing). I told them of another SAMS store selling it for $112. About 7 employees huddled around the inventory terminal and scratched their heads. Finally about 12 minuets later they sold it to me for $112 with no hassle.
