I was checking out the Memorex 48x CDROM and trying to find a way to get free shipping too. But can the following be done:
Memorex 48x drive - 49.99
canon ejay s/w - 29.97

total = 79.96 apply 25 off 75. total paid out 54.96.
get free shipping over 50.
now memorex mir = 30 plus canon mir = 30.
So get 60 back net get 5.04 cash back?

note: you will have to pay sales tax but as long as you have a sales tax rate of less than 10%, you will get the CDROM and s/w for free (and possible with some cash back!).

There must be a catch to this sort of a thing.

Most rebates will pay up to but not over the amount you paid on your receipt. Your coupon will show on your receipt, so they won't pay you more than your total. Aside from that, it should go through.

Please excuse me, but where is a 30 MIR on the CDROM? I see only a $20 one when I goto Staples website. Is there a different one that I am not seeing? Thanks

The receipt will show that I paid 49.99 for the CDROM and 29.97 for the s/w. So they shd pay me the max amt possible.

about the 30mir, staples claims the cdrom is for 19.99 (specail) after mir. The cdrom shows up as 49.99 in the shopping basket. i need to call staples to find out where the rest 10 discount comes from.

The "rest of the $10" was a misprint. On-line, they might not be able to honor it. I went to the BM and they rang up the total and threw in a "managers special" of $10 to make the deal match what was advertised.

On Staples rebates..

I bought the $149.95 Peachtree Accounting a couple months back. Used the $40 off $150 qpon code to get it delivered for $116 w/tax and received a rebate check for $150 from Staples. So they will send you rebates for the full amounts.

i just bought that memorex 48x it rang up as 49.99 but i showed them the add and they gave me "$10" so that after rebate it would still be 19.99 =)

chexi: the rebates will go through for sure. Rebates will be paid exactly as the amount stated, so it's possible to have net profit. I have done many staples coupons + rebate deals and all went through well.

Okay. I defer. I was commenting on rebates in general. Staples appears to be more generous. :)
