There's no way any comic book movie will be Rated R. It cuts out a huge portion of the market. They will just have to water it down.

Not necessarily, I would venture to say a pretty good portion of the folks that have read the Deadpool comics are 18 or older. That and this wouldn't be the first R rated comic book movie. Both of the most recent Punisher movies were rated R and so was Sin City.

Sounded like Robin Williams (RIP) in the clip linked in that article.

Punisher was rated R
Watchmen was rated R

The Punisher came out in 2004, five years before Disney bought out Marvel Studios. Disney doesn't put out R-rated movies. I suppose there's a first time for everything, but it's unlikely.

Disney does R movies all the time, just ships them out under one of their sub labels.

But they probably wouldn't do that for a Marvel IP. It'll be PG-13.

Also, while those movies didn't bomb, they had a relatively small return on investment compared to PG and PG-13 films.

The Punisher: Budget $33 Million, Box Office $54 million
The Watchmen: Budget $130 million, box office $185 million
Spawn: Budget $40 million, box office $87 million
The Avengers: Budget $220 million, box office $1.5 billion
