Hi,

My LCD (Viewsonic 20" LCD) seems to have deadpixel.

What i mean is when i playing movie clips using WMP, it has deadpixel, no matter where i move that WMP, the deadpixel will remain there. However, when i try to open IE on top of it, the deadpixel will go away.

I have tried it on several movie clips, so i am sure it is not the clip problem.
Does it mean that pixel is dying? and i am going to get a deadpixel in that spot in the near future?

No, it means the pixel is dead. Or more precisely, it's locked. It's still dead with IE, you just can't see it...it's similar to changing your font color in Word to white and typing, you won't see anything. There are several utilities out there that flash colors in rapid succession to unlock stuck pixels. They don't always work, but it's worth a try.

i.e. UDPixel

thanks for the hint,
i just downloaded it and started flashing the dead spot.
it is flawless under IE or any windows applications. just playing movies for 5 minutes then the dead pixel will pop up.

I have been flashing the deadpixel for a little be over 5 minutes.
but when play movie clips, the deadpixel pop right back up again..

after 2 weeks of testing, no significant improvement though

I now have 4 dead pixels, however it only shows up when i play movie clips.

I won't see any deadpixel during the test, desktop working or anything other than playing movie clips.

I have using the DNA-driver for nvidia 7900gt, now i switch back to official nvidia driver, but seems no differences at all.

what could be the problem?
These deadpixels just suddenly popup after i do i fresh installation of Winxp.

Does the fault occur when your playing any games or just movie clips? Is it possible to try the monitor on another computer?

I have trie to plug my notebook in using d-sub connection.
the screen is flawless, no deadpixel anywhere. not during movie playback or anything..

however, today when i turn on the LCD and try a few movie clips, it's like a infection, there are now 8 deadpixel plus a brightpixel(in bright red).

oh my god!!!

Well if you have flawless playback with another machine then i would look into the cable, maybe use the same D-Sub cable in your PC and see what happens. If its still the same then try another DVI cable.
