holy crap did anybody catch it? fricken Jake, i knew that drug addict was full of shit. he really hauled ass to the airport when he saw the cop. fricken loser. he and his brother were absolute poison on the boat. they tore the boat apart by bad mouthing the captain to the rest of the crew.

i posted in the long thread when capt harris died that those two morons would screw it up. i was right.

the new capt may have been an ass but he was the capt and there can only be one capt on a boat. they had 3 and the season was doomed before they even left dock.

Greed was also a factor in this. they were dead set to go after blue crab, they gambled and lost. Sig tried the blues but after a couple of blank strings said fuck this and moved to red crab grounds.

His brother, forgot his name at the moment, actually wasn't to bad as he wanted to fish and learn but the blue crabs were going bad for them but I haven't seen tonights episode yet but Jake was really screwed up.

he was telling the crew how bad the capt sucked and how they have no money... holy balls you never tell your crew that shit, ever. they staged a mutiny which ended any chance at all to even catch red crab.

They're filming the show from a little different perspective this year. I can't quite put my finger on what's different but I like it and think the show will last maybe one more season. There's only so many ways you can present crab fishing.

I wonder how hard Jake's heart was pounding as he breezed by the cop there on the docks? Also, I've got to assume the captain wasn't lying about the potential penalties for dope on the boat. They sounded pretty harsh.

Josh has got his shit together far more than Jake but I don't think either of them, even as a team, are capable of running the boat. It's a damned shame. I've got to believe they have no other real skills but who knows? Maybe they can get picked up on another boat. I don't think we'll see that happening this season.

Hardly. There was an interview with him in the local paper (he's from Seaside, OR). He basically said the season was going great, and all the crew were getting along, until those two showed up. They were only there for three days, and one even went up to the wheelhouse and said "we're only here to make TV, and when that's done we're out of here". Of course it's all on film but Discovery will never show it. So basically creative editing.

He seems like a cool guy. Captain Phil mentioned his name as a successor in the hospital, and Cornelia Marie Collins called him up personally and offered him the job.

Just more fake drama like that garbage with Keith and John last season.

I'm sure there was some creative editing in there... And yes, the brothers were poison to the boat. From what I gathered in the previous episodes, they (together) own 25% of the boat. The other 75% owners should tell them to eat shit and get back to work.

@Boomerang - I think they are focusing this season more on how hard finding the crabs is. Previous seasons it was like "Ohh, found the crab. YEAH RAKE IT IN, AWESOME." This season we see them filling their tanks slowly and then all of the sudden "Gotta go in, all full". Clearly there's gotta be some inbetween because there's no way you would fill your tanks only scoring 2-10 crab per pot.

I don't think it should matter weather it was his weed or not, jakes captain was only acting in spite of the "argument" before the cap called police when Jake told him to pack his bags, implying that the cap was the only problem. And frankly I believe that captain only had did that because Jake and Josh made him look foolish throughout his time on deadliest catch. Weather Jake smokes or not shouldnt have been the issue, he was just stewing over his failures/ lack leadership. I might even go as far as to say he was jealous of the boys possibly because they owned the boat at the end of the day so in essence they call the shots. Either way I believe that cap was a drama queen that just wanted to get back at jake for blasting him on t.v. It's kind of sad what a fuck up Jake is. This could have been his opportunity to step up but instead he goes back to using drugs after just a few days.

Interesting link, he comments that the CM is in bad shape, (I can remember a few episodes where it broke down) and that Phil's wife is 75% owner and that the whole operation is in a lot of debt. Smoking some weed isn't a big deal IMO but how can a captain take you seriously (as in training you) if you show up in the wheelhouse stinking of it, I wouldn't let you drive the damm boat either..

That's funny you mention that as John (and his brother and Sig) were on the radio here a few weeks back and that issue with Keith was brought up. It seemed VERY real as those 3 described it. They hate Keith. Don't respect him at all and it seemed that everything they showed on the show was 100% honest and legit.

I agree that smoking some weed isn't a big deal ... on your own time off. Damned if I want to be working next to a guy doing an extremely dangerous job and not know if he was toking 10 minutes before starting work. I don't think drinking or smoking has any place while on an actively fishing vessel. Wait until you get back to port.

the capt was well within his rights to tell jake and josh, but especially jake to get over phils death. it is job to find crab and bring it in and he cant do that when a snot nosed drug addict brat is moping around, getting stoned every chance he got and bitching about everything AND turning the crew against the capt. If jake was not ready to be a crabber because he was still mourning then he should have stayed home. the capt is there to run a boat not a daycare, jake needs somebody to kick him in the ass because he is a total fuckup. his old man was the only one who could somewhat control him but he is gone. Since jake is part owner of the boat any capt would be insane to take the job if jake part of the crew. he will not take orders from anybody but himself.
