Deadbeat cookie monsters

The ones outside one of my local supermarkets have a good racket going. The cute little ones go up to the women while their hot older sisters wearing those uniforms with the skirts and long socks and everything go up to the guys.

I don't even eat the cookies I buy!

why would you sell $3,500 worth of cookies without collecting something?

nevermind...apparently a portion of that was loaned to sell...

so i ask, why would you loan a good portion of $3,500 worth of cookies?

1. Why would you give them the cookies if they haven't paid?
2. Who buys $3500 of cookies to RESELL? They're pretty expensive as it is, how are you going to make a profit off that?

Many fund raising projects are done that way. For instance when you buy candy bars or pizzas from the school kids for various school related activities.

Ah... when I read the article it didn't seem like the deadbeats were parents of girl scouts, I thought they were customers who bought the cookies from girl scouts and never paid up.

Edit: Is that what you're getting at? Whenever I buy girlscout cookies I put my order on a signup sheet and either pay when I order them or pay when I receive the cookies, but either way I pay before I get my cookies.

they were customers. except for the 3500.00 one
One alleged deadbeat says most of the $3,500 debt involves cookies she gave to others to sell. She agreed to pay the debt in $100 monthly installments.
Looks like a vendor who was a bit irresponsable?
hard to say.
