Scary reviews. But great deal if you don't mind a potential RMA.

Not to thread crap but I am looking for a GPU because my 6750's fan went out. Reviews look like this card has the same problem, as a matter of fact except the shroud the design looks near identical.

Guys, all that jazz about cards dying is BS. It's not the cards that's the problem. It's the people who use them. I always buy cards from the crappiest, cheapest manufacturers to save money and they always work great.

Surprisingly, it's only an nVidia card that's ever died on me. Don't get me wrong, sometimes cards can die, and not due to any error on users part. Still, people buy these cards and expect them to "just work", for the measly $150 or so that they pay for them. Newsflash! It may be a lot of money for you, or for me, but it is not a lot of money in general for such a complicated, DELICATE piece of technology.

If you want your crappy, cheap card to work well, take the time to take off the heatsink, remove the junk thermal paste and apply arctic silver. After you install the card and start using it, it's not something that you just leave in there and forget about it. Open your case once a month, and give it a good cleaning with compressed air. Not just a few careless blows, but really go in, and make sure you get all that dust out from ALL fans, and under the heatsinks when possible. That will ensure even your cheap, garbage video card will work great for years.

Either way, I think this is not a very good price for a 7850. It should be around $120 without any rebates since it's roughly comparable to a 560Ti without PhysX. Buying a 560Ti used for $120 is a much better deal IMO.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but IMO you should not have to rebuild something sold as a brand new product. I've had two XFX branded videocards fail-each time because the fan failed. They replaced them but I had to pay for shipping.

The ASUS 7850 is back in stock. I just ordered one myself...I'm really hoping that AMD adds some nice games to the Silver Never Settle Forever promo.

Any idea about the dimensions of the Asus card? I canceled an order for a Power Color PCS+ 7950 card because it won't fit in the case I'm most interested in.

Thanks, real happy I got the Asus card at $112 yesterday. Even with the releases today by AMD the Asus card seems like a good value.

Yup, that ASUS card was a great deal. The XFX, not so much.

WTF happened to XFX, anyway? Their build quality went way down.
