DEAD xfx 8800gs $61.84 shipped after $30.00 rebate

Looks like the one I bought at the beginning of this year for around $120AR, so the deal is smokin' for this level of performance! One caveat for those who care... noisy fan.

The reviews on newegg refer to XFX sending you a fan speed adapter if you request it which will slow the fan, apparently without hurting performance. Quiets it down a lot it seems. I intend to get one.

Couldn't you just put a Accelero S2 on it?

I am sure he could, but why spend $27 (after shipping) for an after-market cooler, that may void ones warranty, instead of just requesting a free fan speed limiting adapter from the manufacturer?

not too mention if you add the $27.00 to what you paid for the 8800gs, you could almost get a 8800gt or something for that amount.

and the stock cooler is excellent, it cools excelent, that is why you could slow the fan to like half speed and still overclock, because it works so well.

XFX is offering a fan speed adjustment device? They didn't tell me when I called to complain about the noise from this card. I'm using the S2 (<$20 shipped) w/low speed fan and am happy. XFX doesn't void your warranty for installing an aftermarket cooler, confirmed in my conversation with customer support about the loud fan.
