I just cant believe there's still a shortage on this console. Are there production issues, or is demand really that great? Or is Nintendo holding back units to create an artificial shortage and build hype?

I got one like a month ago by luck on sears.com and figured they would be in stock everywhere shortly, because I'm not known to get lucky on these things. I still dont have a second controller!

I got mine Sunday, if you're still looking for one, the Toys R Us's around here get their shipments of 40-50 every Sunday morning. Get there when they open at 10am and you're pretty much guaranteed one.

Nintendo's sold 1 million Wii units by far into this new year and counting but not meeting demands.
You have better luck fining these in stores from much smaller cities or towns.
I bought mine @ TRU store in St Peters, MO three weeks ago where it had at least 20 qty in stock @ the time.

I picked one up from Target in Clifton, NJ on Sunday. They had about 70 instock first thing in the morning, when I picked mine up at 9:45am, there were 4 left.

Note sure if this is true, but my friend was told by Gamestop that they supply is going to dry up for a while since they are about to Launch in EMEA and they are sending supply there.

i heard there was supposed to be another big release of wii's in/around march.

course i heard this back during the holiday season... but was told this was their general plan for release.
