Smoking hot. I got mine a year ago for $700 w/ free shipping and it was worth every penny. For $100 less, I'm now fighting the urge to buy a second one :)

I use it as a computer monitor and the screen is incredibly sharp, the colors are good, and games, movies and text all look wonderful on it. The only downside is that the black levels are kind of crappy, but you really can't get a better 1080p set at this price point and size.

Westinghouse as a brand sucks though. Their support is terrible, and their screens tend to crap out after a year (right after the warranty ends...).

Mine's a couple years old and working just fine, Black levels are... well you get what you pay for. $600 for a 1080p 37" is smoking hot, I'm tempted to get a 2nd too.

Who knows. One users experience is in no way indicative of the quality of the product. Your best bet is to do your own research on the brand name.

Agreeing with the above that this makes an AWESOME computer monitor. Text is crystal sharp, and games and movies look great. Also has 2 DVI inputs which is quite nice compared to most LCDs out there that only have vga.

This SE model has 1 HDMI and 1 DVI and 1 VGA. Other models had 2 DVI inputs but only 1 of them actually worked IIRC.

I've quite liked Westinghouse as a brand, of course I haven't had a product die on me yet from them so I can't say how good their customer service is. This is a great screen, good for a small room or as your computer screen. As others have said the black levels are crap, but for the price who cares?

I've had my Westy 37" for over 2 years without issue. I game on it nightly (mostly source engine) and it serves me well for sports on Sunday. I paid a grand more than this for it when I bought it and would definitely do it again. Obviously this is a newer model so YMMV, but there are quite a few people with Westys that are very happy with them.

not at all. I've had 3 of them (different sizes) and they all work great.

The specs and pics show 2xDVI.

Only one of them worked, was this just a common flaw or is it meant as something?

In for one. Thanks very much for the heads up. I've been thinking of getting a 1080p LCD for a few weeks now, and this looks great for the price! I look forward to hooking the PC and Xbox 360 up to this thing. :)

I jumped on the costco deal way back when it was 800$ and it still works. It came with a dead green sub pixel, only visible as magenta over white. There is considerable backlight bleed on the right side, but for the money, I am satisfied. It took a bit of work to force 1080P due to it shipping with the wrong EDID. Using it as a standard TV now and its fine even for 480i material at 10' away. Bioshock 720P from XBOX looks pretty sweet, and 1080P computing is sweet. YMMV as always, but 600$ is pretty swell.

Wow, perfect timing. I've been just about to purchase a refurb LVM-37W3 from onsale.com for about $525 delivered after a coupon and a shipping rebate. Getting a brand new one for only $75 more ($55 if the coupon works) is even better.

By the way, if you're worried about the lifespan of the monitor, pick up an extended warranty from SquareTrade.com. For this model, the cost is only $65.99 for three years (the first year is concurrent with the Westinghouse warranty, and will only cover you if Westinghouse goes under or refuses to honor their warranty). Also, try using coupon code FIFTYOFF to get it for only $33. SquareTrade has a great policy, they'll ship you a box with a prepaid shipping label to return it to them, then they pay to ship the repaired unit back to you. If they can't fix it within five days, they'll refund the full purchase price of the monitor. Oh, and you have 30 days after purchase to buy the extended warranty.

Yeah it was some kind of bug in the firmware I think. It's common for these to ship with an EDID for the 42" model with slightly different specs, IIRC one of the DVI ports worked on the same channel or something as the HDMI... it may have been that you could only use one of the 2... I can't remember exactly. There's a several hundred page thread on AVSForums about this particular model, I'd highly suggest searching for it before buying this TV.

Buy.com's page says these are from a new batch that does not have the EDID problem.

I have been using one of these as my computer monitor for almost a year, and it is the best monitor I can imagine owning. I have no idea why everybody doesn't use one of these when they are the same price as a lot of 24" monitors. I absolutely love this thing. I am tempted to buy a new one and sell my old one on Craig's List.
