There doesn't appear to be any XP drivers at all on the support site.

Yes I noticed that myself.

I may try later this week.

Did you guys use the software update tool?

Haven't triedyet.

I always make sure I have drivers prior to the installing of an OS ;)

I will more than likely give it a go this week.

Our local Walmart in Wisconsin sold the laptops for $399. A friend of mine picked one up. He said the line thinned out when the price was announced. We had asked ahead of time and knew about the price. On the plus side for those of you who got them for $298, you managed to buy them for less than cost.

I think most all Wal-Marts was selling them for $298. You must have a odd ball Wal-Mart.

No, Wisconsin has an old goofy law that says stores cannot sell things below cost.
They have to charge a minimum markup. Do not expect to find the great black friday deals in that state.

True, but the OS and all original software is on a seperate HD partition so if you need to restore you can. And the windows key is on the bottom on a sticker so you don't need to worry about losing a disc or anything. Of course you don't need this key for the restore process, but in case you need to call MS it is there for you.

You can also create restore DVDs after getting it set up. I helped a friend restore her compaq laptop after getting some viruses and the restore DVDs that she made after setup worked fine.

There is also an option on the HP/Compaq support website to order a OS restore disk. I don't know what they charge, though (you have to enter the laptop serial number on the website to order the OS CD).

I actually ended up taking the 46" Sanyo back as the picture was awful even hooked up to my DishHD...The darks were very splotchy and it was just overall hard to even watch. Ended up finding an 50" LG plasma that i liked for $998 at Brandsmart.
