<< What do you mean the rebate issue bothers you? The rebate form says valid from the 14 through the 18 and there are no restrictions on the website to using a coupon. A coupon has never been considered a promotion.

Whatever . . I got three (for family members of course).
>>

Come on, don't you think the responses from their CSRs are CLEAR enough?

Good luck anyways!

CSR responses aren't worth crap. They, and their clueless supervisors, can say what they want, but experience shows that in reality the rebates will get honored. I can't even tell you how many times one CSR will say one thing and then another will turn around and say the opposite. You need to do a few more of these to gain confidence.

This applies to the crap that Worst Buy, ChumpUSA and Circuit Cshit*y employees spew forth as well.

Just to add my two cents, I just called my local Staples and asked about the rabate-coupon situation and she asked her manager who said there is NO conflict whatsoever.

She just said make sure I had a valid coupon as there are fakes floating about the internet.

I'm going to pick one up now. Thanks guys. :)

There's way to many newbies hanging out at this board. First of all the Staples coupon based on the "amount" of your order ($20 off your $100 order), not on what item you buy. Second, this "Offer not valid with any other rebates, offers or promotions. ), has nothing to do with the coupon, and you see this sentence on most rebate forms not just on the scanner rebate form. Third, if you are afraid to use a coupon on this deal, then don't use it., $20 for a scanner is still a good price.

I just bought it and it seems to be working fine (although I've only scanned 3 things). Installed it on Windows ME and I haven't seen any conflicts yet. For the price, I'd recommend it. However, I went on CNet.com and read the reviews for this thing and more than 1/3 rated it badly.

Reviews

I'm thinking most who rated it negatively were either newbies or had a scanner with old drivers and softwares (this scanner came with new ones so I was happy about that; for example, originally, it came with PaperPort 6.2 but mine came with version 7). but there were some who complained aobut the scanners going dead after a few uses/weeks. So before everyone jump on this deal, be careful since the 8100 doesn't seem like a quality product and tech support is AWFUL according to the reviewers.

But personally, it's working fine for me (so far), it scans pretty quickly with USB and the image quality is decent. If it works for at least a year, then I'd be happy with my purchase.

Anyone with one of these...
Do you run it off directly connected to your computer or through a hub. I'm running mine USB through a hub running XP and it keeps stalling and I get errors. Is that the issue of something else?

I installed it directly, but putting through a hub shouldn't have anything to do with your problems. Did yours come with PP7? Also, there is an XP certified driver at the visioneer website.

As far as the whole coupon-rebate deal, they are two completly different entities and have nothing to do with each other. You will get your rebate. Staples is awesome with the way they handle them.

I'm in on this deal. Thanks. Only experience I have with Staples rebates is the one I'm waiting on currently from the epson 880 deal. With $80 on the line and all the knitted brows, I decided to skip the coupon this time, but ordered with the "mice" to bring down the overall cost. Still a good deal either way since I don't have a scanner and need another mouse for a different rig anyway. then there is always amex pm....

«Mysterie: I'm running mine USB through a hub running XP and it keeps stalling and I get errors. »

Is it a self-powered hub? Scanners don't usually do well on unpowered USB hubs.

I bought mine at the B&M Friday. Paid the Andratech $59.95 + their shipping (the B&M went on line to find out what the shipping is) = $73.33. With the 110% I paid $74.19 after tax. Hope the rebate is paid in full:disgust: I got the XP model with PaperPort 7.0. It's slightly faster than the previously free model 4400, and quite a bit quieter. And it has the handy buttons to make a copy without firing up an application:)

BTW, I am running in XP Pro, and after using the scanner the configuration proggie keeps popping up even after I dismiss it. Anyone else?

Thanks gregor7777, I'll check for that update. I always like the paperport setup so I had been using it (PP 7 deluxe from a previous Staples or compUSA deal) with my previous Canon scanner, looked awhile back and never saw an update.

Athena, nope it's self powered. Had my Canon running off fine (uses the usb for power) so I was wondering why this guy was giving me so much trouble especially when it comes with it's own power source.

I won't mention the members name but someone on FW just posted that Amex Blue will no longer pm Staples at all. Here's the info he posted

<< I called an Amex CSR just to ask about the conditions of the Amex Blue PM policy informed me of the following...
Purchases made through a store that offers a pricematching policy WILL NOT be eligible for Amex pricematching, even if the store's PM is expired or not valid for the particular purchase. She mentioned staples specifically.

So, I delved further and asked about a specific situation, the visioneer 8100 scanner at staples (as I was planning on getting one). The person laughed a bit and said that she'd had a lot of calls about that. Because staples has a pricematching policy (which most of you couldnt use b/c of the $80 MIR and/or the coupon used), you cannot use Amex Blue pricematching at all. This includes calling up between 15 and 60 days after the purchase (as staples' PM expires after 14 days). No PM will be offered through Blue for staples purchases. Period. No exceptions. If staples won't let you PM b/c of your coupon or a MIR, tough, don't come crying to Amex Blue. If you find a better deal 6 weeks after the purchase, tough no pricematching for you b/c you should have found it within the staples 14 day period.
>>

Don't know if this info is true but my question would be, why would anyone call and start asking questions about a specific item? I'll be highly p1ssed if my pm, that was submitted over a week ago gets denied because of this. If this is true alot of us are gonna get screwed....

the rebate i found from staples only states that the rebate only applies for the 17th and 18th.

I've normally found that staples is very lenient with thier rebates, but in my small experience dealing with visioneer, they are very strict about their rebates.

I have this scanner coming here tomorrow but with all the problems i am hearing with the rebate i think i am going to take mine back $80.00 rebate is to big to gamble with. Now in the past i have never had a problem but i think Staples is changing and not going to allow the coupons and rebates. Everyone should take them back and let staples eat the cost of shipping and then let them stockpile all of of the scanners in the store and let them choke on them.

lol ... there are no problems with Staples rebates...everyone of mine that I have submitted has been paid ( well with the exception of the Philips 8x4x32 CDRWriter fiasco...even that one is coming down the pike as seen here)and I have submitted well in excess of 1G over the past year( an excellent way to put together a homey lil office):). You just have to keep copies of all documentation...submit rebate via USPS certificate of mailing( so you have proof of the date mailed so if it gets fubared in the USPS system you have proof of date mailed) and having copies of all documentation you can if need be resubmit or fax if the rebate fulfillment center says "fax". Staples for $1 will fax your rebate in in this situation( the business copy center guy does it for me for free... only have had to do it once...nice people at my local Staples :) ) and you usually will get a faxback saying rec'd. I do not understand( yes I do...just a buncha hyperedup lost their Ritalin hormonallychargedup people panicking(sp?) over nothing) what all the commotion is about. ...lol... just get your goodies ...keep accurate and fairly legible copies along with proof of mailing...no problem.

sorry I don't agree... GEEEZ, just buy the scanner and enjoy it. IF you're so nervous.... then get it for the legit $99-80MIR=$20.. no coupon. OR combine the purchase with another item ...so you can use the coupon on the other item ;)

lastly. what if I used a legit discount coupon emailed to me? are peeps here saying I will be denied rebate? Not!!

<< If the coupon was specific to the product then they could deny the rebate. Otherwise they would be able to disallow the rebate because Staples offers free shipping on orders over $50. >>

That's a good point, and I think Staples does differentiate "product-specific" coupons from "general" ones.
Well, one thing is for sure -- with this deal posted everywhere on the internet, Staples would have to deal with a lot of pissed-off customers if they disallow the full $80 rebate with the $20 off coupon.
>>

seems they are disallowing as of now on online and phone orders.

Like I said before, the store manager specifically said that since it was a general coupon, meaning not product specific, an dthe rebate was from the manufacturer that it would be allowed. It always has been to my knowledge at staples.

I'll be pretty pissed if they screw me though.
