Clean it with a little brush, maybe there is some dust there that is shorting things out?

It's not the best videocard, anyway :) Either RMA it to Matrox if you still can, or get something faster like, say, a Voodoo3 :) Just kidding... GeForce2-Ti or so.

well thanks for your input
i've used gts2, v3, radeon, etc....matroxg400 has much better 2d quality and better resale value, speed isn't everything in my case.

Great point HOON96. So many customers say they want the latest greatest 512meg ;) video blaster thingy.... Then u ask them what thier plans are for it and its oh email and browsing, scanning a few pics of the kiddies, a few games here and there........ The Matrox does have superior 2d, I totally agree.
/running for cover/ I might get flamed, but there are better more important things than the almighty fps.......
edit: duh! as for your question, sure sounds like its dead, RMA it ASAP.....

cant speel today...........
