I just bought one, but haven't bought batteries to test it yet.

Seems well built and very good deal at that price.

Is this accurate enough for small things around 70-90 grams? like a small pet bird

I would say no, it's not going to have that kind of resolution. You're talking about weighing something that's around a fifth of a lb, you'll need something much smaller.

I figure I have a 6v adapter around that will work.

Not saying the 75 lb option isn't dandy, but its TFL, I already ordered the first one.

in for the 75lb version for 22 shipped, price has gone up to 30ish shipped now.

Question for those who own one, a friend needs one to occasionally dispense freon. He needs to "tare the tank and dispense.. say 2.9 lbs". Basically weigh the tank, dispense a few pounds, and have the scale reflect the weight change on the fly. Will this scale do it?

55 lb one does, but since your friend is "selling" freon he may need a scale that the dept of wts and meas can certify.

I would possibly if he is dispensing right after hitting the tare button.

The problem with the one I have is that once the scale is turned on and tared it shuts itself off within a minute or two.

I don't know if the dispensing of freon, thus making the scale subtract weight, is going to be in that timeframe. I couldn't tell you if the scale would keep itself on during this subtraction process.

Taring before and after wouldn't necessarily work because he could overshoot the weight he wants as suggested by another member.

Thanks for the replies. The actual need is for when he works on car AC's and needs to know how much he's putting in the system.

Just realized that the .2oz accuracy on the 75# is more than likely .2 pounds.

It looks like it only weigh in poundage or kilograms with one decimal place. So .1 pounds would be 1.6 oz, right? What does the 55lb break down too? # #.#?

I ship a TON lately, so this is super handy, and cheap.
I don't even ship stuff that much, but I got a cheap digital scale off eBay for like $20 many years back. Has easily paid for itself many times over, it's so nice not having to wait in line at the post office or FedEx or whatever to have them weigh something. You can just do it at home and purchase postage online. Definitely worth it at this price.

My 55 lb unit arrived today. Its fairly small, maybe 8x8x2. 9vdc adapter for my old 2lb scale worked fine, powered right up and surprisingly was already at 0.0. Accuracy is stated for all three models as .1 oz for low wts and .5 oz for higher wts.

Auto shut off can be disabled, so seems possible it could be used for freon, but I haven't tried to weigh anything with a negative result.

Display came off fairly easily, one negative is that the display is hard to read looking down at much of an angle.
