DEAD: Trendnet GREENnet 10/100/1000 8-port switch $24.99 AR ($10) Shipped - Newegg

Aw, I bought the 4port version of this like a month ago for the same price. Oh well. Great deal for those who need it!

I have a love the 8-port version. I bought it at this price several months ago and received the rebate with no problems either.

ps...Don't forget bing cashback. It's only 70 cents, but every little bit counts 🙂

My home network is running on one of these. I hooked it up to my kill-a-watt and it uses only 1 watt of power as advertised.

What are these good for? I thought I needed one until I bought a cross-over cable.

You can expand the ports on a router with it. Use it with a PC router (smoothwall). Use multiple ones so you only have to run one cable to service multiple computers in a bedroom/office.

As an example I have three switches in my house. One 5-port is next to the PC router located upstairs and services two computers. The second is located downstairs where another computer, laptop, wireless router and networked printer are. The third is in another bedroom with a PC and game consoles hooked up to it.

this is a good deal, just ordered another one, but kind of thinking about another as they are only a few $ more than the 5 port version

Really? I have one of Trendnet's original 8 port GBe switches and the thing runs HOT! The AC adapter is 7.5v 1A which means it is capable of 7.5W right? Though, the switch may not draw the whole amount. What is the output of the AC adapter that comes with these "Green" switches?

Good router. I like sturdy metal build and speeds are not bad, however my plastic Dlink greep power router would consistently give me better speeds.

BONUS NOT SHOWN I JUST BOUGHT THIS UNIT RECENTLY

NOTE: there is one port on the device that has priority so if you have a Gaming PC or VOIP service and you plug it into port 1 it gets priority over the other ports. QOS in a switch. its a nice bonus.

OK guys - I know just enough to be dangerous. I have a 10/100 Mbps switch right now. If I were to buy this one, would all my gigabit capable devices be able to communicate with each other at a gigabit?

It wouldn't increase my download speeds much though because cable modems are limitied to 100Mbps right?

So really the only advantage I would see would be between devices running on the switch capable of 1 gigabit - right?

Yes... that is the main reason people buy a gigabit switch, all devices on your network that support gigabit speeds will enjoy faster bandwidth.

TwiceOver, about the 7k Jumbo Frame support, the manual clearly says "TEG-S80g: Up to 9612Bytes"

Is there a way to get wireless devices running at gigabit speeds?
