when I power up the system the hard drive spins up the video card fan comes on and all my fans come on exept the cpu heatsink fan, I suspect that my heatsink fan went bad and my motherboard protection wont let the system boot up if the fan is bad, I ordered a new fan, any advice?

You don't seem to need any advice. 😀

Wait for the new fan and see what happens when you install it.

Well, your suggestion is correct...but if my memory is correct, your mobo will start w/out cpu fan, but it will just give you warning beep forever (then you can go into your bios setup and disable the warning). So, it is strange that your mobo wouldn't even post when your cpu fan is shot. Also, if that's boxed cpu, you can get a free replacement fan.

This morning I opened the case and turned it on, just for the hell off it i pressed down on the cpu fan and it went and the system booted up fine, is my cpu fan on the way out or maybe something else, any ideas?
