I have a dlink dgs-1005D switch that just randomly died on me. The leds basically were lit, but would not move. I unplugged the cable, it stayed lit, I plugged in another port, that one did not light. I powered it off, powered it back on, those same leds were lit. Turns out past network changes made it so that switch was useless to the network, basically it plugged into the router, then one PC plugged into that switch. So I just removed it from the network and plugged that PC to the router. I already have a dangling cable as a spare so I'm good.
But before I chuck it, is there anything I could possibly do to get this switch going, is it even worth it? First time I hear of a non managed switch dying like this though. It was only like 100 bucks at the time, I have a spare newer one I paid like 50 bucks for, so it's not a huge loss.
