eWiz increased the price to $81.00

8GB USB drive for only $61. They have the 4GB leather flash drive for $33. Both are shipped free. I know that NAND memory market is pretty flooded so the prices may even go lower. I ordered the 8GB one.

My present flash drives are a 1G and a 2G and for my uses cannot imagine needing anything more. Deals like this help change my computing world though! Nice find!

With an 8GB flash drive I can at least meet the "Bigger is better" requirement even though I do not know how the heck I will ever fill it up yet.

Oh crap, I've been waiting for an 8gb... 4gbs just couldn't hold a dvd's worth. Anyone got any reviews on this? Whats actual read/write speed? How long to fill it up with say 7 1gb files?

EDIT: This 8gb in particular I just don't like caps.

I know this AData PD7 8GB USB flash drive is really fast. 200x ~ 30MB/s read speed. $99 price is not bad.

This 2GB PQI U339 170x is also a really good deal for $17.95. It's a really fast drive. I had the 1GB version before I gave it to my sister and bought the 8GB AData PD7. It comes with a nice lanyard and I would say the build is even slightly better than the PD7.

I received the flash drive today and tested the write speed with a 200MB folder. It took 108 seconds to write a folder containing 102 files. The average size was of each file was 2MB. This would suggest that the write speed was less than 20% of the maximum specification value (2MB/s vs. 11MB/s). I did the same test with Micro Center's OEM 1GB flash drive and it took 243 seconds to complete (over twice as long). By the way, both flash drives were formated FAT32.

Flash drives take longer to write If there are many files, even if each are like 500KB each.
If you try to copy 1 large file, you'll notice it is a lot faster.

As suggested, I copied a single 594MB file to the SuperTalent flash drive and did get improved performance (about a factor of 2 improvement). It took 151 seconds to write the file. That suggests about 4MB/s which is still well below the maximum spec. of 11MB/s.

I ran the same test with the MicroCenter OEM flash drive and it took 346 seconds to write the file. Its performance improved by about a factor of 2 but was still slower than the SuperTalent flash drive. The SuperTalent drive was better than twice as fast as MicroCenter's OEM drive.
