I caught this on Netflix the other night and read some recent posts about the game. I was prepared for some dumb anime movie and was pleasently surprized. I ended up caring about the characters. Be warned, this is full of gore and not for the the kids. If you saw it what did you think? Link

I just added it to my queue. :)

I'm about halfway through the game right now and having a blast. What's surprising is I'm truly interested in the plot and take time to read all the text logs, listen to audio logs, etc. Based on that, I think I will enjoy the movie.

This movie is the prelude to the game. You are supposed to watch it BEFORE playing. I thought it was free? I found a link somewhere on the internet and saw the whole thing in HD in perfect quality. It didn't look like any sort of a pirate site, seemed very legit. I thought EA released it on purpose for people to get the feel of the story before playing?

I rented the Blu-Ray right around Dead Space's PC launch, as I read it was a prequel to the game. I still haven't bought the game yet, waiting for it to drop below $30, but the movie was decent enough. Animation was pretty mediocre, but the backdrops and graphic interlays were pretty nice. It is pretty gory, but the animation is so cartoonish its no big deal. Pretty good overall, story is better than your typical horror flick, but presentation and production value is probably a bit worst.

Although it is a prequel, I think you should watch it 'after' you play the game. It would be very confusing to watch before you play the game, and if you watch it after you play the game, it makes *much* more sense, and since you basically know the story already, you have a better understanding of why things are happening the way they are.

Also, when you play the game, it really does help if you know absolutely nothing about the game, so you have to figure it all out yourself, putting the pieces together. That was the most fun part.

Seeing the movie first would ruin that 'oh crap what the heck is going on' atmosphere.

exactly because the character you play would not have known what happened. watching the movie before playing the game would actually ruin your perspective of the story for the game. you are supposed to be lost and confused.

There is a free somewhat animated comic that is free, then there is the fully animated movie.
