I went and rented Dead Space for the 360 and it really leaves me wishing I had it for PC, then I read that the PC has the same control style as the console which I find infuriating. Your character turns soooooooo slowly that you find that quite often you can't defend yourself properly as by the time you scan the room it's right on top of you (though this adds a bit to the scare factor). Now this is a acceptable trade off as precise targeting is important and controllers don't do well in that area. But to leave it like it is for the PC is inexcusable, it's pure laziness and lack of respect for PC gamers.

This is the type of game where you want to be able to scan a entire room in a second or instantly do a 180.

That aside, I find it a LOT like Doom 3, but actually scary with the background sound and environment done excellently. I refuse to get the PC version due to EA's DRM policy on all new games they release (which will include FC2), note to mention the control issue.

These control issues blow. I was really looking forward to this title and once again a game has failed to live up to the pc's superior control system.

I play with a mouse/keyboard because it feels more natural. I do NOT need the game to emulate an analog controller because the devs were too lazy to add proper mouse/keyboard support.

What he said.

I hate the controller/gamepad for these types of games. That's why I PC game.

IMO, it really wasn't scary at all. Given the dynamic you described, it essentially became pointless to try to survive the encounters with say more than 3 monsters at once. So, I started just thinking of the first attempt as recon. My game play became: recon, die, then properly execute.

Well that settles it for me then, I'll get it for my 360 or PS3.

Or just use your 360 controller on your PC.

Hmm.. DRM'd PC version on a 24" LCD with the 360 controller.... or 360/PS3 version on my 46" 1080P LCD with a controller.

You could also plug your 46" LCD into your PC.

I did... the controls are horribly laggy with vsync. Once you disable vsync, controls are precise and quick. Loving the Game btw. Playing @1920x1200 max details 8xAA *(no vsync) with fluid frames on the hd4870

Why would EA have any control over the DRM on an Ubisoft game like FC2?

There are so many reasons why that just is not practical and I'd have to spend more money just to do so.

Does it matter that your TV's 1080p? I thought the console versions run at 720p.

Yeah almost all console games run at 1280x720, with a few exceptions. 1080p is meaningless for nearly all console games.

I bought this game yesterday. I've noticed the mouse input is a little muddy feeling due to the reason pointed out above. It's far from ideal, but it is something a person can get used to. I played it for about an hour and the whole time I kept thinking this game is a lot like Doom 3 with a hint of System Shock 1/2 flavoring. I need to play it with a clear mind and not focus so much on that. I did end up quiting the game on a funny note. Somehow a corpse got its leg stuck between my right arm and hip. I was walking around with this corpse stuck to me.

Actually a lot of the graphically intense games run at lower resolutions than 1280x720 on consoles.

Totally lame and I agree. How hard is it to really implement basic mouse support? Apparently to fucking hard to try.
