I loved this series. I thought it had the perfect blend of horror and suspense in a sci-fi package. Now we’re getting Dead Space 3. The E3 announcement trailer is up on their site, and looks a lot different. Not sure how I feel about the changes to the game. Co-op while interesting to a point kind of ruins the feel of being completely screwed. I also don’t remember Isaac talking.. at all, so him being portrayed as kind of whiny in the trailer doesn’t sit well with me. It’s also very bright, which I think takes away from the suspense.

It will be Resident Evil 5, I bet you.

Watered down action game, ammo surplus, predictable monster moments, and probably little in the way of true tension, fear, or suspense.

Sorry if I sound pessimistic, but we've all been here before. Survival horror games, especially mainstream ones, almost never last past the third installment, especially in this day and age, before being morphed into a kiddie accessible action fest with "scary" scenery.

It's sad, because the original was EASILY one of the best 'mainstream' Survival Horror games of the past several years. I was excited when it became so popular, but then quickly realized that's a doubled-edged sword in today's gaming world, as the publishers almost always get greedy and decide to 'branch out' and make the game more popular by abandoning the original recipe for success.
