I was just sent one of the customer appreciation email codes today for purchasing products from Newegg. One of the codes is for 20% off any Samsung 840 SSD drive.

I purchased the Samsung 840 250GB drive for $169 - 20% code = $135.99 shipped!

The code is BTEXTXS44 but only works if you received the email i believe.

Very hot deals and also works on the 840 Pro series. :)

Damn, according to slickdealers the code is now dead.

Bah... would've gotten a 512gb 840 pro with that... :(
Same here, I was going to get two of them. Deal was dead less than ~3 hours after they sent the email. Kind of crappy of them if you ask me for "customer appreciation" coupons.

I lucked out and happened to check my email probably 2 minutes after newegg sent their "customer appreciation" email with this hot deal code in it.

Was checking the 840 500GB for a couple months, off and on, and did not hesitate to pull the trigger and buy one at $240 shipped (no MIR hassle either!).

So I can confirm the deal was actually legit and not a fluke, got my 500GB 840 right here ready to be installed into a laptop tonight.

Over the past decade, I've spent many thousands at NewEgg. Never gotten a customer appreciation code.

Crazy thing is that my boss also spends tens of thousands a year from them and never gets those codes either.

I bought a $19.99 flash drive the previous week and was thanked for that purchase with these coupon codes...lol.

I always seem to get them after buying a single small item.

Maybe they are just trying to turn small-time customers into big-time customers?

I am sure they are after "big game" but my spending patterns at Newegg can be classified as two categories - infrequent big ticket purchases ($3k per invoice, maybe once per year), and frequent small ticket purchases ($20-$100 per invoice, probably once a week)...and I can say without a doubt the customer appreciation emails with the 20-30% offers always come hot on the heels of me doing the small but frequent ticket thing combined with voting when asked to vote!

And it is absolutely true, if you want a 20% discount coupon on ram then you first buy some smallish costing ram (I intentionally bought a $40 single sodimm for my laptop to trigger it once) then sit back and wait 2-3 days for your "customer appreciation coupon" and then go and buy that $200 3x8GB DDR3-2133 kit you've had your eye on with a 20% off coupon ;)

I build out a rig about once every 2 months, Neweggs coupon and pricing algo's are not all that complicated. You have to bait them like you are fishing, tease them out a little and wait to land yourself the whopper.

I typically get these coupons after buying parts for a new rig. I purchased a supermicro board, i3, and 8GB of ECC ram a few months ago. I got coupons for cases, extra ram, and a raid card in my email a week later, so they definitely tailor the coupons to the customer.

^^^ I have noticed the same. I always get coupons for things that I have gone to their site looking at in the week or two prior.

i got a customer appreciation code for buying a seasonic psu on sale, my buying pattern is pretty infrequent however and they may have been trying to gateway drug me to the higher margin items.

Man, I would have loved to take advantage of this deal!

Thanks for the tips IDC!

Ha ha, happy to help!

Just baited and hooked me another round of 20% off customer appreciation coupons. First I bought a silly cheap DVD burner for $15/shipped (needed it).

Then I waited, then I intentionally went online and viewed a bunch of USB thumbdrives (I wanted a USB3 drive) and some more case fans. So I add all of the above to my cart (being logged in to my newegg account of course), leave them sit for half a day, log back in and remove them all from cart.

Sit back and wait 24-48 hrs. (in this case I had to wait less than 24hrs)

And then voila - email with customer appreciation coupons :)

As a small token of our thanks for your recent purchase of a SAMSUNG DVD Burner SATA Model SH-224BB, please use these bonus coupon codes to save a few dollars as you finish your new computer build or upgrade!

10% OFF ALL USB Flash Drives*
20% OFF ALL Case Fans*

Ka-ching ;) Fish in a barrel.

clearly you know too much and have told others, expect a newegg blackops cleaning crew to dispose of your body at 5 o'clock this evening.
would you like to schedule a complimentary carpet cleaning at the same time?
