ShellShocker for 2015-10-16. $119.99 FS.

Unsure whether or not this is the SandForce controller version, or the Phison.

The smaller sized S60 SSD started out as SandForce, and changed over to Phison S8. The Phison might be more reliable, but didn't perform as well.

The specifications mention 530MB/sec read, 330MB/sec write, which is probably more consistent with Phison, but then it also mentions DureWrite (sic), which would indicate SandForce.

The picture of the packaging shows 500MB/sec read, 500MB/sec write, which would indicate SandForce.

So who knows.

Will we see a 480GB~512GB SSD hit $99 on Black Friday?

I think we will.

Probably a Mushkin, though. :(

Too bad the Sandisk SSD PLUS models only come in 120GB and 240GB. I would love to see a bigger, cheap, SSD.

Edit: Here's a review from a 120GB S60:
This review is from: Silicon Power S60 3K P/E Cycle Toggle MLC 2.5" 120GB 7mm SATA III 6Gb/s Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Can have some outstanding speeds if you get a good one. Models have various Memory controllers, one I received had a newly released Silicon Motion SM2246XT. Crystal Disk Mark 64 scored 544.8 MB/s read.

Cons: While the read speed was outstanding, the write speed was a 160 MB/s. I used multiple Sata cables to test the speeds, but was unable to achieve any higher. Lastly, I attempted to do a firmware update, which Silicon Power's firmware software was unable to detect the drive, even though I was able to write to and read from the drive. I even tried updating the firmware on a Windows 10, 7, and Vista machine without success.

Other Thoughts: If you are in need a cheap standard ssd for a computer, this one is nice, however if you need a fast drive for a media server cache for transcoding, I recommend against it.
So, it appears that Silicon Power is using yet a third controller in the S60.
