This just went front page on SlickDeals. I would think if you boys and girls want this, might not think too long on it as the SD effect might sell it out pretty quickly (unless Newegg has a ton of them).

It got posted to SD last night around 9PM or so, so SD's had plenty of time to empty NE's coffers, but the power supply is still in stock. Seems NE has lots of them....

It's funny but sometimes thing really don't take off on SD until they hit front page. I guess there are people who just scan the front page deals and nothing else. Regardless, I would jump on it if I wanted it, otherwise, you snooze you lose! :p

Yeah, now that it's been frontpaged on slickdeals it will probably go OOS soon. This is the cheapest it's ever been, and as a bonus no MIR involved.

I've got notification yesterday night, it's tempting, but I do not run SLI/Crossfire, so fanless 460W would be more than enough for me. That, and PSU fans always get noisy within a couple of years, and unlike case fans, they're impossible to replace without voiding warranty. This has been the case with every single power supply I've got, including Seasonics. The latest PSU in my main machine is Enermax Modu82+, which was the quietest power supply when I bought it. Well, 3 years later the fan developed a chirping noise.

So here I am, looking at this deal, trying hard not to buy - go OOS already dammit. Hoping for Seasonic 460fl fanless power supply deal on BF/CM/Christmas, kicking myself for not buying when it was $80 at the beginning of the year.

Keep in mind that below about (edit) 150w, this PSU runs in fanless mode, and is thus both silent and prolongs the fan life.

I see almost no reason to get the 460w fanless when this is an option at $90.

Actually, the fan in this unit is temperature regulated, so it's impossible to pinpoint exact point when the fan is going to kick in since it's going to depend on the ambient temperature and the case airflow, but it's much lower than 250W. Seasonic's own diagram says the unit will stay fanless until 20% load, or 130W. In JG review the PSU stayed fanless only during test one which was 134W, in silentpcreview the fan eventually started spinning during 150W load test, so it seems that 130W is right about the max load this PSU will run fanless. Most rigs idle under 130W, however most rigs will also cross that threshold when pushed. So 460W fanless would work better for me, I just need to hold out for a sale.

Ok, I stand corrected. It's not a hard wattage limit, but I do think much more than 150w is needed to heat it up sufficiently to turn on the fan. I just loaded BF3, which presents a 235w load at the wall (about 211w on the PSU), and it took about a minute for the fan to turn on. I'm fairly certain that in less demanding games, I've been able to run without the fan turning on.

Anyway, feel free to go for the fanless model. I'm more than happy with a PSU that turns its fan on during gaming - my video card is much louder than the PSU fan anyway.

If that price was for the 750w I would be all over it. I love Seasonic PSUs and they are all I will use in my systems.
