Crap, $7 less than last time and I still haven't used it yet. Ahh well, probably be this price at Newegg before we know it.

ST31000340AS Heat Issues. There is a semi bad batch from Thailand. Stamped as SD15 fw. That's why every retailer is trying to dump em right now ; newegg, zzf, buy.com, dell etc. Just look up this hd on newegg and see the number of doa reviews. Mine is on Back order till the 31st just got called from Dell.

Might cancel and wait.

NIce find. Thanks OP. I had run out of space for my video files...this is perfect.

Saw the other post re the bad batch, heat problems and such. I have a fairly well ventilated case (no silent running HTPC here) so hope that should mitigate any problems.

Personally, I have always been uncomfortable running anything faster than a 5400rpm drive without some type of cooling. I have an old Antec/Chief case that allows a case fan to be mounted into the front of the drive cage. This old case is all steel, built like a tank so would never do for a portable gaming system but sure is a great case... but I digress.

As other receive their drives, would be interested to see what is the batch run ID.

I should have followed others advice regarding this drive. After running less than 30 days, the drive died...no warning at all. PC was running fine, left it get a document and when I came back, the system had froze up. When I rebooted, I could hear a loud click and rec'd a message from windows saying that a file had become corrupted. I attempted to reboot a couple of times without luck and then finally disconnected the Seagate drive. The system came up without problem. Cannot recommend this drive at all.
