$19.99 each with a flat $5 shipping rate for up to 3 units.

This player has a microSD slot which lets you effectively double the space to 4GB.

WOOT!

I've ordered some refurb players from Woot before and they arrived in great condition...well worth the price.

Features:

* 2GB storage space for music, photos, and voice/FM recordings
* MicroSD expansion slot
* Rechargeable battery keeps the player running for 15 hours on a full charge
* MP3, WAV, and Protected WMA playback
* FM tuner and photo viewer that can display up to 64,000 colors
* FM recorder and voice recorder

In the box:

* Sansa C250
* Earbuds
* USB Cable

I got one of these from Buy.com a couple of months ago. I use it with a 2GB microSD card (4GB total).

It is not bad, but it has an extremely slow startup. First, it sits at an opening screen for a while, then it shows "Refreshing database" for a few more seconds. I am guessing it may partially be due to the use of expansion card. Also, it can't act as USB drive, at least not the v2 revision I have.

A major pain is loading it with music via WMP. I may not be doing it right, but the only way I can load a custom playlist is to create one in WMP, load it with music, save it to the hard drive and then sync it to the device. I would prefer being able to create a playlist on the device and then drop music directly into it.

Also, you have to load the internal memory separately from the expansion card. So, if you have 100MB of music to load but only have 50MB in each memory "section", you have to break up your album/playlist over the two sections.

But... It is certainly worth the $25. Get a microSD card for ~$10, and you have an almost disposable 4GB player for $35, including an SD card that can be used as a backup for your camera (or whatever) when needed.

I've got four of these. Don't ask...

Have only used two. One seems fine, second one will often boot to a "recovery mode" and I'll have to hold down the power button for 10 seconds to force a power off, then try booting again. Yes, refreshing database takes a long time.

While these devices used to support both MTP and MSC mode, they show up with a recent firmware that removed MSC mode, which IMO is really dumb.

MTP = Media Transfer Protocol
MTP is something Microsoft invented (IIRC) and you'll need WMP10 or later to be able to drag/drop music to the player in Windows Explorer, otherwise you'd have to use WMP to transfer the files for you.

MSC = Mass Storage Class
MSC basically means the device is essentially a USB flash drive.

For $25 shipped these are really nice little MP3 players. Battery lasts a long time and these things are small and light.

You can potentially use Rockbox on it, but I didn't have any luck loading it on mine.

I bought two a couple of weeks ago from sellout.woot when they were 17.99 each. I love them.

Just purchased another for the heck of it :)

I'm thinking about putting rockbox on it, but I haven't had much incentive to do it.

Zap, I got this from woot a few weeks ago. The firmware can be 'downgrades' so that MSC will show up in the settings. That is a plus. After you do that you can add rockbox
