thought I'd post this for all those people looking for kitchen christmas presents for their moms. I know my mom wants a bread maker, so when I saw this breadmaker I checked around to see what it retails for. Amazon.com lists the cheapest price at $215, and the cheapest price on ebay.com is $176. It looks like a pretty soffisticated kitchen appliance with it's touch screen and all, hopefully this contraption is worth $74.99.

P.S. 1 year warranty.

Holy cr@p batman, this is a great price -- got nice reviews from lots of folks. This thing is 3x the price on other sites.

AND, there's nothing better than FRESH bread in the morning🙂

Thanks OP

Maybe for a gift, but don't buy a new one for yourself. Most people buy them, use them once or twice until the novelty wears off and never use them again. You can pick them up at garage sales for $5 to $15 all the time, hardly used, or just ask friends and relative since you probably already know someone who has one stashed away that they never use.

Last one I had we used to make bread every Sunday until it broke. This will be a nice replacement -- can get the premade mixes at the store for about a dollar.

Thanks Luke, This will make a great Christmas gift for my daughter.

OK! Here is the recipe for a two pound loaf that all who try it state that it is the best of the best!
I CAN MAKE THIS FOR $.11/LOAF!
This is our favorite bread recipe for several years running. It never gets tiring.
I made a loaf last night and it is half gone. About a whole nickel?s worth.

Simple, too! Ingredients listed in order... T. = Tablespoon t. = teaspoon - all measurements are level.

2 - T. dark brown sugar ? packed (I am always generous with the sugar...I can control the rise with salt.)
1½ to 1¾ - T. high quality Olive oil (Aw, heck, just use two short Tablespoons, Olive oil's good for you.)

12 - oz. filtered water* (I use Britta) * Microwave the water for 90 seconds and use it to rinse the oil from the Tablespoon as they are both added to the pan. I start with room-temp water.

1½ to 1¾- t. salt (Salt is pretty much the key to consistency as far as how much the loaf will rise.)
1 - cup Whole wheat flour (I prefer stone-ground, but commercial is probably just as good.)
3 - cups enriched white flour (not necessary to use the more expensive "bread" flour.)
1¾ - t. dry yeast (I get it from Sam's or Costco in the 2-lb. size and refrigerate it for year(s))

Press the standard (default) bake button and let 'er rip.

1. Note ? on my machine, it is necessary to scrape the small clumps of flour from the sides of the pan about 3 - 4 minutes into the start of the first mix cycle.
2. Note ? for a softer crust, this loaf must sit undisturbed for about a three hour cool-down after the normal finish of the baking and cool-down cycle of the machine. I've even left it for several hours (like 'till you get home from work or overnight).
3. Note ? this makes the world's best toast.
4. Note ? please don't use margarine on this bread/toast - use Land 'O Lakes butter, or it's equivalent.

Edited: I call this my whole-wheat-light bread recipe and by default, it uses the white-bread bake cycle.

The best regular white bread I've ever had is from this old company called Fink. They use to be big in nyc a long time ago. A little butter on that toast is amazing. Last time I had some was about 3-4 years ago. If anyone knows them & where I can still find some, lmk. 🙂

we been making loaves in the oven and after it comes out just put butter on top while its still warm. home made bread with soups are f***ing amazing!!

Where do you get stone ground? I can only find the normal near the white flour. Mine should be arriving today.

While the regular whole wheat is merely fabulous. Stone ground is the cats-meow.
(I doubt that I can actually tell the difference, but hey, if I'm gonna make a loaf, it may as well cost $.12 instead of the measly $.11 it does with regular whole wheat.)
I can buy stone-ground whole wheat at King Soopers, Albertsons, Safeway, Vitamin Cottage, Whole Foods & Wild Oats.

Will this make bread as soft as the store bought loaves? I've tried making bread from scratch, and it always comes out too firm (comparatively). What's the trick for getting soft bread.

this should make bread 300 different ways. I just got mine today from woot. I told my mom to open her present early(so I can enjoy homemade bread early), but she wants to wait till christmas.

She had a breadmaker last year, and it made the softest, best bread ever. Put some butter on top of it to soak in right after it comes out and it will taste better than anything.

If you do put the butter on top, be sure and let it sit in the breadmaker for 3 or more hours in order to cool-down naturally.
That is the only way I found to make soft crusts (which I prefer).
Buttertop bread is nice but there is one in our house that tries to say that he does not like butter. Ha!

If you are able to get bread from any homemade breadmaker that is like "Wonder White" or "Rainbow White", I would be surprised.
Then, there is the matter of slicing bread that is that soft.

I grew up in the '40s & '50 on homemade bread. No one in our house would even eat the store-bought crap. i.e. Crap in comparison to truly wonderful homemade bread.

Edited: because I have a new keyboard and it does not spell as well as the old one did.
