Dead Rising worth $30?

Was thinking about getting Dead Rising, but was wondering if it's really worth the $30. I enjoyed the demo enough to keep my interest.

I'd get it, but I love zombie games/movies/books (World War Z is a great novel). It sounds like a zombie lover's dream

Not for $30. Buy it used. The game can be frustrating. Portions of the storyline have to be completed within a certain timeframe. If these quests aren't completed, you have to restart from your last save. And that's assuming you have enough time left on that save to accomplish the next quest or else you have to restart the whole game.

I realy enjoyed the game. Yes you have to do certain things in a time-frame but that just gives you incentive to play the game over again.

I agree on the frustration, especially at the beginning, when the player is getting used to the controls and Frank is at a low level. The single save file (can be gotten around with 2 save locations) is an annoyance. I almost messed up my time management once, but it was at the beginning of the second day, when starting over (keeping accumulated experience) wouldn't be terrible.

On the other hand, I've gotten nearly all of my $30 worth out of it, and I still need to finish 72-hour mode. Regarding getting it used, I looked around on FS/FT a little before buying it new, and I saw it requested as a WTB/WTT only, no one offering it.

Times missions really suck... hmmm. I'll have to think about this one. I probably won't need it anymore seeing as how I'll probably get GTA4 in the next couple weeks which will keep me more than occupied.

The time constraints are generous for completing the core missions. The side missions and exploring eat up a lot of time, but they're optional.

It's a fun game.

Oh and when you post a thread with a question that has limited selection of answers, it's usually better to add a poll 😛.

You have to enter into a certain mindset to play it. Honestly, the first two or three times around, I wouldn't get too worked up about the story missions. But for $30, it's a pretty good buy.

This ruined the game for me. I hate those kinds of restrictions. Other than that, it was amazing. I understand they did it to add some feelings of reality to the game, but they forgot that while this sort of thing is great for a zombie movie it really doesn't add much value to a video game. You tend to turn off more fans than you will turn on.

Now, I am not saying people shouldn't buy the game or that it sucked because it most certainly did not. I just hope that next time they steal a page from Rockstar's playbook and build me my zombie infested sandbox with more freedom. I want to be able to freely beat the living hell out of as many Zombies as I want in a huge environment without being pressured to progress in the main storyline.

The save system ruins the game for me. I lose an hours worth of work repeatedly because I'm running around trying to beat the clock and end up dead from a psycopath.
