That looks fun, and I was looking for a reason to hate on the Wii, because God knows I do, but still. Maybe the original is way better in which case damn I need to get it.

Just do a search for Dead Rising on YouTube. The Xbox 360 version of the game is packed with zombies whereas the Wii version can only handle a handful on screen at the same time.

I believe the Wii version also has fewer weapons and zombie types. They did remove the time though which is a major complaint of the 360 version.

Wow. This looks absolutely fuckin terrible. The tunnels are going to be a joke. In the 360 version the tunnels had so many zombies you couldn't even breathe.

I still have my copy for the 360 and have intentions of playing it some day, but every time I stil down and really consider playing it I get turned off by the timer. I really dislike them. Hell--in a single mission it's slightly tollerable but to have one for the length of the entire game just kills me. Also, I've heard from several people that you should play the game and level up to about level 6-7 and then start over? If this is true then that's a bummer. I have played the first hour of the game and really enjoyed that though.

No. Just play through doing ALL of the story missions and then whatever side stories you can get to. All the rescues and psychopaths, save a few vital to the story, are just extra side stuff you can skip. The game gets a LOT more fun once you've beaten the game and know where all the badass weapons are. Mini chainsaws + blade extending books + shotties and SMG's makes the game turn into an absolute blast.

I wish they added that as an option for the 360 🙁

Yeah, the timer sucks. I had DR awhile ago and sold it, then bought it again. Popped it in, then I saw the damn timer and remembered why I never played it all that much. Seems like too much to do in the time allotted. The timer and the fight in the food court were deal breakers.

After looking at the video, it doesnt look that bad for a Wii version.

Haha are you serious? Playing a game through to completion just to play through it once more doesnt sound very appealing at all.

The timer was meant to give the player a sense of urgency. It added to the tension. So did the forced save points.

Some people just don't like that, which I can understand - mainly people who prefer to explore and experience everything they can in a single play-through.

I kind of feel the opposite - the game is built to be played multiple times - as your character keeps his level even with new games. The first time you go through it, it's basically a race against the clock - doing the best you can with the time given to you - sort of like a real-life scenario. You won't and aren't expected to see and experience everything, or get the best ending. I still found it very fun and rewarding.

You play a second time and you kind of know what to expect, know better routes to take and better weapon locations - and in turn you discover new things because your timing is better.

Anyway, back to this Wii game - half (if not more) of the fun of this game revolved around the "holy shit, how am I going to get out of this!?" moments. You could have 3 people following you and then just get swarmed by zombies. Not like 10 or 20 of them. Literally, wall-to-wall zombies. Like a mosh-pit of zombies. That was what the game was about. You had to fight your way out of these crowds all while desperately trying to keep your followers alive and make the deadline. It caused extreme anxiety.

I dug it. I don't see how, at least from these videos, how this Wii version can recreate that.

Yes. It's a Capcom game. A lot of Capcom games are designed like this intentionally.

If you play the game straight through it will take an afternoon. On my first play through, all the way through overtime mode and to the 'real' boss, I started on a Saturday morning and distinctly remember being finished in time to get ready and go out with friends that same night. It will take multiple plays through to get all the achievements as well.

The achievements are well done and well thought out, too. Only downside is they're all worth 20 points when some are insanely difficult and others are not. They should have weighed them differently.

Are you being serious or are you joking? I can't tell--but incase you're serious I can't think of another Capcom game (let alone "a lot" like you claim) where I've had to play through the game once (or even 1/2 through) before playing it once more in order to enjoy it.

I stopped playing Dead Rising because the guys in the Humvee always beat me up 🙁. I mean... I was just trying to mow over the zombies!

The game gets a lot easier and funner once you beat the boss with the mini chain saws which isn't too far into the game at all. You can also "triple book" them which makes them last a lot longer so you don't have to replace em very often.

The mini chainsaws basically allow you to plow through enemies no problem so the timer isn't so much of a problem and neither is your level.

I'm being serious. Resident Evil, Onichucha, Lost Planet, Megaman, all off the top of my head. I got through all of them in a day or two and then the fun really started on the second playthrough. Technically I saw the ending and got enjoyment from playing but the new game+ mode was always infinitely more enjoyable.

On day one, run to the north plaza and get into the hunting shack. Pick up all the shotties and hunting rifles. The prisoners should be easy as pie after that.
