Got a set a week back when they were a couple bucks more. Only burnt a few so far, but they are working great.

My sharpie writes beautifully on both.

the frosted and inkjet printable seem to last longer in my experience. The plain silver tend to flake at the edges over time.

The Ridata's are almost never plain top. The plain silvers usually are Ritek branded and no lable on the spindle. These look like they have the frosted top and whatnot.

They also have the 100 pack of 4x DVD+Rs which are $11 cheaper (now only $27 for a hundred DVD+Rs.) I just got them today. The media is RICOHJPN, Made in Taiwan.

Remember back in the day we used to get FUJI 32x CDRs and then found out that the 32x was a sticker that covered 24x sticker that covered the 16x original label?

You think 4x and 8x are the same Ritek Ridata discs?

What does it mean when people say, "I was able to burn these at 12x speed."

I mean "was able to burn?" Burns can have errors, so how do you know what speed the disc is really capable of?

On the same line of questioning my NEC 8x DL drive doesnt give me an option to burn at diff. speeds, it looks at my 4x -R ridatas and says "I'm gonna burn this at 4x, and you cannot stop me."

DVD+R

what about these for 27AR? they are OEM, but, what do you guys think?

Also, i've had no differences between my Ritek DVD+R, and the -R. Anyone wanna suggest which they would prefer?

Thanks

Has anyone received the 100pk 8X DVD-R discs yet ? I am really interested in knowing (for a fact) if these are matte finish discs or silver top discs.

I would definitely agree with the previous comment that matte finish discs are usually much higher quality than silver top discs. This has been my experience on many occasions.

I don't know, I tried burning those 4x's at 8x and it seemed to take longer... instead of the the standard 14 minute or so 4x burn, I chose 8x and it showed it stalling, "32 minutes remaning" etc.

I don't know, I have a BenQ DW800A which is a +R only 8x burner.

I'm going to stick to burning the Ritek 4x media at 4x speeds. Also, people flash drives like this so they can burn both +R and -R DVDs but reading all the experiences, burning media at higher speeds and/or flashing drives to burn discs they were not originally made to burn is not something that works all of the time. Yeah, there's people all over saying it works for them, but with hot deals also all over the place, perhaps it's best to just sell the old burner and go for the hardware upgrade...

OK. I'll give it another shot, which program did you use?

And what's the way to determine there was zero error, confirm write...?

Yes, you can! This media is rated for up to 8x, so that means speeds 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x are all ok to burn with these baby's.

Just got mine from the FedEx guy.
Matte finish and DVD Decrypter lists them as
Manufacturer ID: RITEKG05

BTW, been having problems with the NewEgg site today, don't know if it's back up just yet!

Sorry for the late question, but someone said earlier that they look like they are the matte finish on the top, so that means they are not the frosted type that someone else believed last longer?
