Dead Quantum Fireball drive... anyone with experience with their support.

I remember I first called when the drive developed some bad sectors, but I think I called Compaq since it stated somewhere in the warranty that Compaq would handle everything. Well they told me to send the entire damn computer back. %&@()#*&*@

So I never did and just lived with the bad sectors until this past weekend when the drive died. Anyone here ever have experience with their support? I was wondering if they would cover it... I was just going to write this up as a lost, but if I could RMA it that would be great.

Is it in a compaq dektop? presario under 1 year from purchase?
Compaq will cross ship parts to your door step most of the time

Heheh, that didn't happen. The drive had bad sectors like a month after I got it and they said I had to ship the entire damn computer back. And yeah, it's a Presario. Something tells me I got screwed over by the tech support. DAMNIT...

well, maxtor owns quantum, and altho it seems its from compaq, you *could* give maxtor a try and see what they say about it.. they usually take care of OEM products too (talking about going out and buying an OEM drive.. i dunno about OEM drives that come w/ a system, and if they have specific serials that go w/ the company or whatever).
