Solved! Dead PSU?

Was into a gaming session and the PC just died mid match. (5800x, 32gb, 3080ti). The game is drawing heavy on both the GPU and CPU so thought it might "just" be overheating.
Still no BSOD so.

Waited a couple minutes tried to boot, 2 secs of flashes, then dead again.

Uh oh.

Gave it a solid 30 mins. Tried again. Now it came further along, started booting windows but like 20 seconds in (windows update, poor timing), dead again.

2 hours, tried again, 20 seconds, dead again.

Tried again, and went into bios. For some reason, it can manage life here. I start thinking it might be a hard drive or even software since the bios seems to be OK but it doesnt fit the 2 second pattern in the beginning.

Going to monitor to check system stats.
(asus tuf gaming, x570 plus).

Voltages

+5V : 5.020V
+3.3V : 3.296V
+12V : 9.967V (this is in read).

9.9 on the 12V rail. Seems like PUBG blew out my PSU!

This is a first for me, I've been tinkering my own builds for decades, never seen this before. You?

ps. I thought this seasonic GX 850watt "plus gold certified" was supposed to be the shiz. Hmmmmmm.

Did you get a PSU tester with your Seasonic?

9.9 on the 12 volt line is definitely a sign of a problem. I’d contact Seasonic. They’ve always been great with support.

Where are you getting your voltages?

Bios, cant get near windows, shuts down.
Yea just googled they have a 10 year warranty...question is if ive got time for that .

You get into BIOS before Windows ever loads…where are you getting those voltage numbers from?
I have a Seasonic FOCUS GX-750. It came with a “tester” in the box.
I’d be contacting Seasonic.

I get em from within the BIOS ..

Also there is an explanation for the missing tester, it was not a seasonic (I just looked up my old parts list, but I guess they were out of stock..) ... It was a Corsair. Corsair. A gaming PSU. This makes sense, cause as I've come to learn over the years "gaming" means "shitty quality".

Anyway, I am back up on a secondary PSU I leeched of an older build, a mere 800watt but its working.. so happy to report it was "only" the PSU .

I've had multiple Corsiar PSUs over the years. All have been great. I did have one that was DOA on my son's build, but I also have one that is 15 years old running 24/7.

If it's the Focus GX, they have a 10-year warranty.

Corsair has always been pretty good with their warranty coverage.

Looks like I misread your explanation about getting the voltage numbers…BIOS readings, while not as accurate as a proper voltmeter, are usually pretty close.
Contact Corsair.

Wow, this is really something unusual! The gold certified Seasonic should have held up fine, but 9.967V on the +12V line is clearly bad. It looks like the power supply is failing, especially under load when you're gaming.
It is most likely the one to blame for the system shutting down. If there's no BSOD, then the problem is the power supply - the PC just can't continue and immediately shuts down. I would check this PSU on another PC or try a known working one to be sure.
Surprisingly, it happens even with top-end PSUs, apparently PUBG killed it after all.
