I can't find a Pacific Digital at an OM in Massachusetts.
Has anyone else had luck in Massachusetts?

My local OMs get deliveries on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
If they get a shipment, their effectively shortening the sale to less than half a week. It takes them a day to get them on the floor.

Whenever Officemax is out of stock on a on sale Burner always ask them what are they offering as a substitute burner.

For $50 Pacific Digital and Micro Advantage $50 rebate search using the "Search by Product Keyword:" Link to maxmyrebates.com

FYI: The Pacific Digital rebate page has 2 $50 Pacific Digital rebate forms on it, but the 2nd one is has a mistake on it, it says "Promotion: Receive a $50 Mail-In Rebate When You Purchase a MicroAdvantage DVDRW" .
Both rebates will accept copies of the UPC code, so it would only cost you a $.37 stamp to send in both rebates but getting both rebates approved is of course a BIG YMMV.

Just checked the San Dimas and Pomona OM, OOS. They have some at Placentia, but they were BTC. I asked the CS rep to check if they had any without the "P" in the starting SKU#, but he said he can't do that and the whole pallet of them are "P". Thanks for checking anyway.

YMMV but the Pacific Digital ones I got with serial numbers starting with 43 and 48 ended up both being Liteon LDW-811S drives. I wanted the LDW-851S model.

I got a liteon LDW-851S this morning. I have just flashed it into a SOHW-832S. The only difference between a real 832S is that the 851S can not support DVD-R writing at 8X due to hardware limitation, that's a pity. However it can support DL and 4X +RW write, that is good. From now on, I just have to buy only 8X +R disk. still good for $34.99 AR/AC.

The manager at one store told me he would be substituting the Khypermedia 8x+/- DVD-RW. He only had ONE and it's serial number started with a 43.
Does that mean that it's a LiteOn?

The serial number thing apples only to the 8x Pacific Digital drive.

Is there a way to check online which stores have an item instock?
No, not at Officemax.

Can the OEM be determined by serial number or country of origin on the Khypermedia 8x+/- DVD-RW?
I heard that the Khypermedia 8x DVD±R/RW drive is a rebadged LiteOn and only LiteOn.
Keep in mond that 1# you can open the box and check the label on top of the drive and still return the drive store for a refund. 2# Officemax has a DVD burner on sale almost "every week", so if this deal doesn't happen there will be another one nest week.

Update #2: Frey's ad in the L.A. Times (Wed 10-13) has the 8x Pacific Digital drive for $59.99 before $10 MIR, have officemax price match the fry's ad, the deal should look like this:

officemax price $89.99 - $33 price match (115%) = $56.99 - $40 MIR = $16.99 if the 2nd $40 rebate is accepted $19.99 - 2nd $40 MIR = $20 back in your pocket. (In-store only deal)

Fry's ad sale ends tomorrow (10-14), this drive may also be in the Fry's ad in other cities too.
