(DEAD) Pacific Digital 48x12x48x CD-RW (#490335) $79.99 - $40 MIR = $39.99
Sterling 56K V.92 Softmodem (#$487054) 29.99 - $10 IR - $20 MIR = $0.00

So it's : Pacific Digital 48x $79.99 + Softmodem $19.99 + $0.02 item = $100 - $40 Pacific Digital MIR
- $20 Sterling 56K MIR - $20 off $100 Staples coupon (on-line or B&M) = $19.99 at Staples

(Bagged Rubber Bands PLY12381 $.26 ; Smooth Finish Paper Clips, No. 1 $.16 UNV72210)

You know, if MysticMan1 were President the economy wouldn't be so bad, though we would all be poor from spending so much ... :D

Anybody know if the Pacific Digital burner is a rebadged liteon, or whatever? Dang, even at $40 that's a good price.

Thanks to MysticMan for the post!

PD's have generally been Lite-On's from personal experience and what little I've read.

Pacific Digital has used so many diffrerent mfg what it's hard to keep up. I check some of the older threads and could only find one reply where a guy say that the 40x Pacific Digital he got was a LiteOn, but I don't know what you will get this time with the 48x Pacific Digital drive.

Just completed the deal online. Finding the $20 off coupon was a challenge, but I finally got it. Got the rubber bands, because I'm loaded down with paper clips from other deals :)D). Thanks MysticGuy.

Not for me in SE Virginia.

My wife and I each placed an order within the last 15 minutes for the CD-RW, modem and a 79-cent Sharpie pen (maxed OUT on paperclips and rubberbands!) from zip codes 23322 and 23829. The former to be delivered 10/15 by Staples courier and the latter on 10/16 by UPS (this one is FAR out in the country but still FREE shipping). The Sharpies in both orders will come 1 day later.

Both the modem and burner will be delivered to me on the 15th. The rubberbands I don't get until the 17th. Shoulda gone overnight shipping on the rubberbands, lol :D.

I'll post the mfg of the burner when I get it.

Once again a great deal.

On the box of the one I bought, it says Smart-Burns buffer management technology. The S/N is like a Lite-on S/N. It should be a Lite-on.

If the drive looks like the one pictured on the Pacific Digital box, it is probably a Lite-On. Notice the Eject button shaped like a cold capsule and the rest of the front panel layout. The model number is also a clue. The actual Lite-On model number is LTR-48125W (or S). Also, most rebadged Lite-Ons I have seen come with Nero 5.5, although the Memorex units are bundled with Roxio Easy CD Creator.

Just did the deal and got a Lite-On. The back of the box says "Nero Burning ROM" and "Smart Burn". It has a 12 digit serial number (all numbers).

Hope this helps......

Just did the deal at local Staples B&M, and I have extra $10 Staples giftcard too :) Thanks a lot!!

Can anyone tell me if mine's a Lite-On? The label has a 12-digit S/N and says manufacturing date of June 2002. The label also says Model CDR-5W48. The front just says 48x12x48. It's made in China.
Thanks:)

I just ordered mine. After rebates and coupon my total will be 24.55. Awesome deal considering I was in the need for a CD-RW. Hopefully I will get the lite-on. I will be happy as long as I don't get a BTC. Now all I have to do is refill my ink cartridge and print my rebates out. Thanks MysticMan.
