pqi TURBO 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail

normal price: $89.00
Mail-In rebate -$20.00
=$69.00
+$3.83 FedEx Saver Shipping
total: $72.83 total

Pretty good price for 1GB dual channel kit that has 2.5 CAS latency. Most of the current 1GB dual channel deals are for value ram at 3 CAS. $20 Rebate is valid for purchases between 6/14-6/30. link to rebate form is on the product page.

EDIT: Deal appears to be dead, as the link no longer works and I can't find the RAM by searching at Newegg. Probably out of stock, I'm guessing.

Since the link no longer works, there is also no link to the rebate for the people who did purchase the ram. Since I dl'ed the rebate(pdf file), I ul'ed for those who ordered but did not dl the rebate file/print it out.

$20 rebate link
Rebate valid for purchases of this ram from 6/14-6/30. Need to mail in 1) completed rebate form, 2) original UPC barcode, 3) Newegg original receipt dated between the dates mentioned above. Must be postmarked by 7/31/05.

Good Find! I jumped on it. I never heard of pqi but good speed and heat spreaders is hard to argue with. Thx Jon

Does this one come with Heat spreader or you added it? Can you please clarify? Also mine is a HP media center (the one from the OD on 1st). It has AMD 3500+. It uses PC3200 memory. But my question is about heat spreader, is that important for that motherboard? and does this one come with one?

Thanks for the help.

Heat spreaders aren't used for cooling purposes. Most of the time it's to hide what chips the memory uses. And because that is the intention, heat spreaders with their crappy thermal paste instead insulate the memory instead of cooling it off.

I had no idea. I assumed since most of the more expensive memory has spreaders that they were an added feature and useful beyond just hiding chips identity.

hrm, whats the DPU stand for? I guess I didnt catch that. I was looking on newegg at the pqi that says it is TCCD and the timings are listed as the same as this stuff, the only difference is the pqi TCCD memory says it is 2.8v while this stuff is 2.6v.

Edit:

found out that the DPU is in the serial number, the stuff listed in the op is DAH... I will remove the link in my previous post so nobody gets confused like i did

Yeah, I was just searching around for 1gb ram kit and found this great deal on newegg. I was thinking about the corsair value ram or the mushkin value stuff, but thought this would be better. I also picked up a 1gb kit for myself. I would have gotten 2 kits, but the rebate is limited to 1 per household...

On another note, I was checking out the RAM at tigerdirect and they had this same RAM, but strangely they charge $198 for it! :Q
tigerdirect link to pqi ram
It's the same exact kit (PQI3200-1024DAH)
"PQI Turbo Series 1024MB PC3200 Dual Channel DDR Memory
The PQI3200-1024DAH is a matched pair dual channel 512MB DDR 400MHz PC3200 TURBO module. Capable of achieving ultra-low latency 2.5-3-3-7, PQI3200-1024DAH optimizes overall system performance with superior stability. Efficient heat dissipation via elegant high quality Gunmetal heat spreader extends the life expectancy of the module. Applying the advanced ICs sorting cutting edge technology, PQI - TURBO series utilizes only excellent quality ICs that are capable of reaching highest possible frequency"

Deal appears to be dead now. Probably out of stock.
Also I uploaded the rebate pdf file for those who did not get it, since the newegg link no longer seems to be working.

My order has already been shipped from Newegg, should arrive in a couple of days. :)
