So anyone have any ideas of what I can do with this hard drive its a nice hard drive . My buddy gave it to me and he can't track down the original system for the drive so I can't replace it through the OEM. I've tried the freezer trick just for the heck of it no go. It seems like its not powering up whatsoever. Neither though a molex or sata connector.

Go to maxtors website and request an rma. The serial number which is the thing you'll need should be on the label. I RMA'd my oem Western digital drive through WD I don't see why maxtor would be different.

I tried that already and I recieved this message, Please contact the PC manufacturer for warranty support. Blah I would just love to get this drive working. Maybe I'll try to give them a call on Monday.

Try swapping out the PCB with another drive of the same model that is broken that you might be able to buy from ebay.

You'll need to find what type of computer it was pulled from and contact it's maker then. Maybe you can try guessing, but I don't know if you'd need to produce serial numbers for the original computer too.
