Spotted this in today's newspaper ad for Office Depot, and thought I'd pass it on:

Microtek C997SD 19" LCD flat panel monitor on sale for $699.78 - $100 MIR - $20 instant rebate = $578.78 after rebates.

BUT!!!! There's a $100 off of $500 coupon code floating around (check "hop on deals" or "chubby wallet"), that should knock the price after rebates down to $478.78. :D

Specs: 1280 x 1024 dpi resolution, 16.7 million colors, 0.294mm dot pitch, analog and digital inputs, built-in dual stereo speakers, can't remember what the brightness was from looking at pricegrabber's review.

Office Depot has this as item # 511-687.

The next closest price listed at pricegrabber was $659, at ecost, so this is an outstanding deal!!!

Please note: according to the source where I found the coupon code, this coupon is only good thru Monday, March 10th!! So if ya snooze, ya lose!! :)

response times? this is hot like fire. and I just bought the 18" Dell LCD... I'd be very curious to hear from anyone on what they think of this screen.

edit: still don't have numbers, "But display performance did show ghosting effects" -- from IT Times Asia, or something like that.

I just input the referal ID and it said that the coupon ($100 of $500) expires on the 11th so maybe it depends on when you put in the referal ID.

link to rebate

if someone picks this up tomorrow, please post back immediately with a review. I also just purchased the Dell 18" LCD and if this is a lot better, I might change my mind.

Snagged one, thanks.
Don't forget to click through ebates.
$38.20 tax, ouch! Oh well, should be about $516 after rebate and 504 after ebates.

Well, I hope that everyone that's taken advantage of this deal is really happy with their purchase! :)

I spent all day debating (yeah, okay, more like agonizing!!!) about getting one of these, since it would be SO cool to have (especially at this price!!), but finally decided that I really couldn't afford it.

For those of you that don't have the funds right now, but still want a warm deal on this monitor, there are 2 coupon codes out there for $50 off of $300, that are reportedly good through 3/23/03. Not quite as hot as $100 off, but still warm enough to keep this baby under $530 before tax. :)

wow, I'm glad I didn't see this thread earlier. However, the lack of feedback on it probably would've scared me away.

Be careful with the rebate. At least this one is not going to Miami!

I purchased a 17" Microtek from OD in December. OD stated the delivery time was 3 days. When it did not arrive after 3 days I called and was told that the three days did not include 2nd party delivery time.

I ended up getting the monitor with less than 24 hours to get the rebate postmarked. I called Express Group in Miami to check if they could work with the rebate. I was told it would be honored even though it was a few days late. (I had called OD and had it OK'd to return just in case.)

Express Group denied the rebate even though the girl I talked to had me send it directly to her. The post card said something about a "misunderstanding".:disgust:

BTW, I am happy with the monitor and would not hesitate to go for the 19" on sale now if I needed one.

Every time I have had a rebate denied from OD. I just took the little card with a copy of my reciept and UPC and they have always given me cash. And to make it even better the way they do it is by doing a refund and re-enter the item with a lower price which lowers the sales tax.

Just got mine but I had to goto work. This thing is huge. Came with the DVI and Analog cable along with a speaker cable. Was only able to hook it up to make sure it worked. There must be an inf file out there somewhere cause WinXP sees it as a regular monitor and I can't change the refresh rate from 60hz. There is still time on this deal. It looks well built and did I mention that this thing is HUGE.
