How good are these?

I do not know. Based on the one review, the question may be how good is your burner? I know I have had some fail and then change the burner I was using, then not have any more failures. This was Verbatim brand disk.

I did not think about that. I guess labels. A marker may only show at the right angle in the right light.

My daughter said "with a silver sharpie". Would that flake off over time and may end up in the drive.

The black has a texture like it may be paper label.
