Hello,
A friend of mine has a HP laptop that is only about a year old (just out of warranty) and the screen went dead. Unfortunately, I do not know the model of the laptop. The thing gave absolutely no warning signs before going out. Fine one day, the next day the screen wouldn't come on. Keyboard and status lights work fine. I was curious if there is anything I could do to try and fix this laptop. I did some googling and came across a thread where people were talking about removing the battery and holding the power button for 60 seconds. Put the battery back in and voila! I have no idea how this would fix a dead LCD screen, but I wondered if anyone had heard anything similar to this? Honestly, I haven't tried it yet, it will be a bit before I can get around the broken laptop again and try to mess with it some more.
Mostly, I'm just curious why that might work. I don't know how reputable of a site this was, but several people reported some sort of success. I don't remember what site it was, and can't seem to find it again.
Thank you,
