What's so special about this monitor? why is it so expensive? is it 144 HZ? Can video cards do that? G-SYNC and ULMB? what are they?

This monitor is noteworthy because it's a 27" 144hz gaming monitor. It's expensive because of the high refresh rate. It is 144hz. Video cards can do that. G-Sync and ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur) are features geared toward rendering the "smoothest, fastest gaming experience." If your video card can push 144 fps, combined with these features, you're going to have a great time.

These high refresh rate gaming LCDs have been compared to CRT level image quality. The $400 price tag is quite affordable for a 27" display with these features.

Edit: It's worth mentioning that I bought a 24" ASUS 144hz LCD last year for not much less than this, and I've been pleased with it. It didn't have the G-Sync or ULMB, so overall, this does seem like a pretty decent deal for someone who is looking to score a high quality LCD for gaming.
