Wait... what? I thought DCUII was good on the 29X series, but was weak on the 79xx/28x.

Regardless, this looks like it has potential to be a good deal. Need to consider it...

Probably the worst cooled 290/290x other than reference so I doubt you get a big overclock, but still 290x at stock speed is a monster and this is $50 cheaper than the cheapest GTX 970 you can find.

what are you talking about? I've had a 4 different 290x's

1 lighting
1 msi gaming
3 dcu II's
1 reference.

The dcu II's were the second most effective coolers after the Lightning. You gotta remember that target temps and fan speeds are only presets and can be very easily changed to whatever.

I could maintain mid 70's with the dcu II's no problem with a good overclock and moderate fan noise.

The dcu II cooler itself has a couple heatpipe's that don't make direct contact with the gpu core itself and some people made a stink about it but I think the real world impact is minimal. The cooler is no joke and very good.

Thanks for the heads up. I have read some bad reviews of it, but it's nice to see this is a great card.
