Edit: Full disclosure, before I saw this deal, I had purchased an Asus AC66U/AC1750 refurb from Newegg a few days ago, for $60 + tax, so this is a better deal, but now that I've tested Advanced Tomato on a new-ish AC-capable router, I'm not so sure it's the greatest long-term choice.

I had been using an AC68U refurb, with Shibby Tomato 1.40 on it, and Advanced Tomato 3.50 is based on Shibby Tomato 1.40, but there seems to be a difference in terms of support for CTF (hardware NAT feature of modern router chipsets). CTF can interfere with QoS, bandwidth monitoring, and filtering stuff, so if you're using that, generally, CTF gets automatically disabled. But without CTF, your WAN routing is at the mercy of the router's CPU.

Without CTF enabled, I max out at around 300Mbit/sec on my AC68U, with Shibby Tomato 1.40, on my Gigabit FIOS connection. With it enabled, I get 950Mbit/sec down.

The problem is, Advanced Tomato 3.50 for AC66U, doesn't even seem to HAVE the CTF option, I've checked. So I'm limited, with Gigabit WAN and LAN portr, to 150Mbit/sec download, on a Gigabit FIOS connection. Not really acceptable to me.

So, in hindsight, if you can't enable CTF in the newest Advanced Tomato firmware, these modern routers may be a waste, and you may be better off just getting an Asus RT-N12/D1 for $10-30 refurb somewhere, and using that.
