Yes or No : Is this a BACKUP copy of Nero on a CD-R ?

Seller (TheSoftwareYard) response:

NO... why would we sell something like that?

Im wondering how long they will stay in business too...The latest question was about that fact in particular:

Mine came and it looks pretty good. How can you tell if it is silk-screened on a CD-R? On the clear part in the center of the CD it says DIGIMASTER. I assume that is the name of the brand of CD. But I can't see any CD label thru the NERO label. It does not look like it could peel off. It is not paper.

This rocks.
best thread I've read in a while.

I love NERO, and have been looking for a version to go on sale for a while.

this thread had me excited to order it, then, reading on, doubtful, then decided against it, now laughing out loud.

thanks guys.

Bootlegs have gotten insanely common, and Nero is a honestly good worthwhile program, not $79 worth maybe, but still not something you should steal like it was Microsoft or Disney.

Warning, all caps post ahead....

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT BUY FROM THESE CROOKS!!!!

(whew, ok no more caps)

I was foolish and ordered a copy, it is a Illegal bootleg, nero says so and if you update to nero 6.0.0.28 it will void the licence (tricky huh?) So now I gotta go through a chargeback with my cc company, only for 8$ but still what a bother.

You have been warned,
Jax

Wow, what a scam. I've been reading in other forums about the change implemented in Nero 6.0.0.28, and how it can detect keys generated with a popular "keygen" program. Sounds like that's what they were using to generate serial keys, and burning/silkscreening (cd-printing?) bootleg copies.

If it sounds too good to be true...

lol.. check out the link now..... hmmm.... product no longer available....

i imagine that it is only a coincidence that the product is no longer available after Nero came out with their latest patch that detects illegal serial numbers....

hmmmm....

I bought four of them. They look like bootleg to me. Very poor QC. Probably imported from China or other country that doesn't crackdown on software fraud. If you have a conscience.....

What is "QC"? I got one and it looks pretty good to me. How can I tell this is not the real thing?

Go ahead and try to update it to version 6.0.0.28 and you will find out. Just for laughs here is the reply for my email asking for a refund.

"Hello,

We apologize for the problem you are experiencing. We have found out
that a
portion of our shipment of Nero?s from one of our suppliers has some
out of
sequence and incorrect serial numbers, which will not allow for the
update
to the latest version of Nero Ultra.

We will be happy to provide a refund to you.

Do you have your Yahoo store order number?

Again we apologize for this inconvenience.

Thank you"

Uh huh, funny how nero would be the ones to issue the serial number and they are the ones that told me it was bogus. I understand that the software yard is shipping everyone the same serial with nero, mine ends in 7500 I bet yours dose too

In any case it looks like Ill be getting my $$ back, though this is a form letter for sure as I informed them of the order number twice in my letter and the fact I bought it off of price grabber and not yahoo.

Good luck,
Jax

My Nero purchased thru the deal still works after upgradation to latest version. So your experience may be an outlier unfortunate one. For me it has been a good deal

You might want to read this thread Here it looks as if this company is sending out serials created by the ORiON keygenerator trying to avoid refunds (lots of other good reading in that thread too, though you might have to be a reg member to read it DSLreports is funny that way)
