Found this at FW...Mushkin basic PC2700 DDR 256M.

$60.00 shipped...sorry, I don't have detailed specs.

Good Luck....Dell 4550 owners...this should be warm! :)

Update: See pothead's post below for restrictions (I missed them at first glance...still warm in my opinion) . Seems DDR prices have gone up significantly (Crucial has basically the same ram for $88.00 shipped...but with the warranty that Mushkin has stripped off). Very nice price....but crap warranty offer...although I've only had one stick of two sticks of ram die (both Crucial)...both on the same board...which there was a design issue involved (Tiger MP2460 Dual Board with Registered ECC DDR PC2100). I ordered anyway....I've got 14 days to stress the heck out of it! :Q

At these prices, sales are final, Mushkin's lifetime guarantee does not apply, but the 14 day return policy applies, so install right away.

is there anything that i should be worried about here, in terms of quality of memory? that's an awfully good price, but i'm looking to get a 512MB stick for the 4550 to use with the 128MB that's already in there. just an FYI, but newegg seems to have better prices on mushkin memory than mushkin itself for the higher end DDR2700 sticks.

Thanks. Considering the price of DDR right now, this is pretty warm. I can't find any more of that PNY "PC2700" locally, but after tax, that is only $4 cheaper and I would have to wait a couple of months for the rebate.

If you can't add the special to your cart, click through the "BARGAINS" link on the main page. Adding the $60 memory there works fine.

It says it won't work with any MSI Ultra MBs. I'm looking at buying the MSI KT4VL. Does anybody know if that counts?

MSI KT3-Ultra (ARU)

MSI KT3: VIA KT-KT333 chipset (VIA website)
The MSI KT3-Ultra as representative mainboard for the VIA KT333 chipset has been qualified as 100 % compatible with Mushkin Level2 PC2100, PC2700 and higher DDR DIMMs.

USER TIPS: The MSI KT3-Ultra uses an AMI BIOS, which, in some cases does not properly read the memory SPD. In addition, the KT3 is somewhat capricious regarding memory. We have changed the specs on our 256MB PC2700 and 512MB PC2700 to insure full compatibility with this particular board and now we do recommend their use. We further recommend using the default settings and to manually adjust the latency settings in the CMOS setup for optimal performance. At 157 MHz FSB, the board switches to a 1/5 PCI divider but only if the frequency is set high enough in the CMOS setup.

---------------

Good thing I used a gold card with extended warranty protection so I get a full 28 days warranty on this memory. ;)

"no heatspreader "

Does this even matter? I'm planning to try it out on the Dell Dimension 4550...

Hell, ordering right now, just curious.
